Purchased this as it is consistently rated as one of the top portable water filters that also remove viruses from turbid water sources. Something that can happen all to easily these days (i.e. the recent flooding in NC.) I also wanted something that would be super simple for my wife and son to operate. The family knows how to use our sawyer squeeze system when we go camping but that wont filter viruses. For now, were going to save this for when the water needs ultra filtration in a SHTF scenario.

I bought this a while back for backpacking/camping and emergency situations. I haven’t taken it on any outdoor activities yet but, twice we had an emergency water boil order so this filtration system came in very handy. I plug it into a power bank instead of an USB outlet not did I install any batteries just so I can see how much power it would drain from a power pack. I was able to fill up a 2 gallon Igloo water jug within approximately 15 minutes and it barely used stored power from the bank. Obviously it was tap water so there wouldn’t be any clarity issues but, the water tasted just fine. I was so impressed with the performance of this power operated filtration system I also bought the Survivor Pro manual pump one. Compared to other high end brands, the Survivor Pro X and Pro is little bigger but, not so heavy that it would be a burden if you were going to ruck it into the woods. I have several other brand filtration systems for backpacking so I can attest that it’s not bad at all. The Pro X is now my home emergency water filtration and the Pro will be for camping and backpacking. They are much more affordable and pretty easy to maintain as long as you keep extra filters available and handy. Just make sure it is cleaned and completely dried before storing it after using it.

I’ve tried various methods to purify water over the years and this is the best I’ve used by far. With most filter systems you still need either boil or treat your water before consuming. This filter removes the need for further treatment of water.I carry the manual filter while in backcountry and it has significantly reduced the amount of water I need to carry for extended hikes. It sets up easily, filters effectively, is light feels solid. Some people have commented the pump shaft may be a weak point - I don’t believe that to be the case. The whole thing is remarkably well engineered.I also have the battery powered version of the pump and this will be used at base camps or if needed in an emergency. It is heavier and bulkier than the manual - I would not take it in my pack. If you need to purify a large volume of water this is a must have. All in all you can’t go wrong with either of these filters.

I was excited to test this unit out. I have well water that is horrid tds over 200, with tons of gross tasting soda or sulfur… this unit dropped the tds in half and improved the flavour to where I could use it for cooking…. Taste is much improved but I’ll still haul city water to filter for drinking. This filter is a champ on chlorinated “city” water. The cost savings over the zero water filter I have been using will be immense.

I like the size, but the way I needed to use it caused the hoses to bend/kink.The flow rate is fine, unless hose kinks.I think for what I’m doing—rving—I need something else without hoses. The seller was very accommodating to my issue and gave a refund.

It's better than the hand pump systems or "gravity" systems which are useless like Brita. The water pump speed is faster than good filtering hand pump systems, but slow: IE: it's being filtered!I like this product, and I've used it maybe 20 times, no issues.

This Survivor Filter Electric Pro X Water Filtration System is very easy to setup and use and it works great.  It has two hoses, one for input and one for output, has an ON-OFF push button on top, and the best part is it's ELECTRIC, so no hand pumping!  The electric feature is what convinced us to buy, and also the option of USB or battery power, plus the triple filtration process, the supplier test report with positive results, and the many high reviews from other users. We have this Survivor Filter setup permanently on our kitchen counter for our home drinking water, powered via USB wall plug, see PHOTO.  We fill a large clear plastic pitcher with water from our home well system and use this Survivor Filter to pump it out, filter it, and pump the resulting filtered water into a large 3 gallon water dispenser that has a spout.  Then clean filtered water is always available at any time via the large dispenser water spout.  We use the Survivor Filter every day, 365 days per year, so it's always in constant use.The amount of well water in the pitcher takes about 4 minutes to be filtered and pumped into the large water dispenser and the dispenser holds about 7 pitchers (about 3 gallons).  We typically use 4-5 pitchers worth of filtered water per day and each evening we refill the water dispenser, which takes less than 20 minutes or so.  For refilling the 3 gallon water dispenser, we purchased a small easy to use battery operated digital timer that beeps continuously after 4 minutes, alerting us that the pitcher is almost empty.  Then we turn off the Survivor Filter Pro and refill the pitcher to repeat this process until the 3 gallon water dispenser is full again. We also always take this Survivor Filter with us whenever we go on trips in our RV travel trailer just in case we ever need it.  We also purchased the Survivor Filter hand pump model too, as a backup in case this electric unit ever goes out during an emergency situation where electricity, batteries, or USB power are not available. In conclusion we're very happy with this product and do recommend it to others.UPDATE FEBRUARY 2025We've had our Survivor Filter almost 5 years now (purchased March 2020), and we've used it every day for about 1/2 hour 365 days per year.  Recently the internal pump began making a knocking noise, no doubt due to all the use we've put it through.  It was working okay during the pump knocking noise, but we knew it would eventually give up the ghost.  But we also knew that the Survivor Filter has a lifetime warranty, so we contacted them and filed a warranty claim, easy and quick to do.  The very next day we received a response that a brand new same model Survivor Filter was being shipped to us, all at no cost to us, which was received in just a few days.  Wow, now that is what's known as GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!Yeah we really like our Survivor Filter Pro X Electric!

I haven't try to filter really contaminated water yet. What I am doing is filtering my tap water. The result is noticeable. Taste of the filtered water is much better, so I am using it for my espresso machine. The rate of the filtering is about 4 L in 10-12 min and the pump is very quiet - something between 20-30 dB. So fare 16 L on one set of the batteries and the pump is still working with the same rate. Also, I have tried to use my TrekPow G39 Car Jump Starter instead of standard pack of AA batteries with an excellent result.Would definitely recommend.
