These are great little survival tabs to add to any backpack or home storage, but take the time to study the nutritional information before buying these. The are great for long-term storage over many years (only before opening; they don't have a long shelf life after opening package), and they definitely do not take up too much space when packing. There are better options for emergency food if that's what you are looking for, as these are strictly a survival tab. These tabs are not suitable for keeping up with high calorie or nutritional demands when expending a lot of energy. I would recommend these as a supplemental item to emergency food storage, backpacking food supply, trekking, etc. I feel like they are pretty expensive for what nutritional value you actually get, but they certainly fill the need for an emergency option if you had literally nothing else and needed to survive. I am giving 5 stars because the product is exactly what it is advertised to be, and I bought these after reviewing the nutritional info and knowing full well what I was buying.

It astonished me how much better this made me feel than regular snacks. There are times on a hike or even about my day that I have not made it out to lunch yet and my body is telling me I'm hungry. In the past, I may snack on chips or trail mix, and will be hungry again 20 minutes later, but also regret the calories.I have now tried a survival tablet on a few occasions, and it's different. The flavors are nice. I would describe this as regulating your needs rather than satisfying your hunger. It allows me to continue thinking or working or going about without feeling down or anxious. But pay attention to the directions and the calories. It says to take one per hour and the calorie (energy!) count is actually low.So because I feel better than snacking eating these, I will keep these handy. And I'll save snacking for when I actually need the calories.

The only down side to keeping several packages in the truck, boat, ATV , go bag, is the expense. The zip closure helps control and keep the tablets clean and dry.

So i have severe issues getting sick when i dont eat enough, hunger affects me faster than most, obviously leaving me a more dire need to make sure, that for survival situations, i get ample nutrients because i wont last as long without food.To try these out i just went the last two days eating minimally and only in the morning in order to get myself on the verge of having hunger problems, it also happens to be a nice hot couple days. I took a couple and made my way to a nice wooded park i know has a long trail and went for a hike, i took 4 prior to the hike and had 3 with me, prehydrating so i wouldnt have to carry my water bottle to travel light, i walked and sweated for a couple hours, going through the 3 i brought with me. Other than some brutal sun, (its 90 degrees in michigan in may, pretty warm) i did fine, am typing this as im sitting in my car afterwards, sipping water, not feeling like i havent eaten anything since an apple this morning when i normally would be keeling over sick from hunger. So i give this a thumbs up.Some notes:-they are pretty tasty, a lil chalky, but edible, they kinda taste like MRE dairy shakes, not bad, easy to eat-packaging needs revising, its definitely airtight and protective, but its kinda bulky, could definitely do better with more compact packaging^_ that said, for my hike, since it was relatively short, i just took the 3 and put them in a small ziploc which i then stashed in the pocket of my old patrol cap from basic-you definitely want water with these-you definitely should mind allergy information-i wouldnt recommend these necessarily as camping or hiking rations as they are low in calories, you definitely would want something more substantial if you’re exerting yourself, but for survival, ill definitely be keeping these in my “s*** hit the fan” bag-these are something good to keep you going until you can find more substantial sustenance, but not something you wanna try and live off of through an apocalypse (unless you REAAAAALLY have to).-ive learned how my body functions or falters based on my diet, so ive learned to know my body, and these definitely made a difference-MADE IN AMERICA- hot diggity

I purchased the variety pack to try out the flavors so see which one I liked. The chocolate one was too chocolaty and sweet for me, the other 3 flavors were great. I understand these are meant to keep you alive while you wait to be rescued but I think at the point of starvation, a person is not going to eat these as intended. I do believe this product serves a purpose; I do plan to purchase more for my food storage. I was trying to figure out how to store chocolates for long term storage and this was the perfect option for me. I plan to use these more of a snack in between my meals and are an excellent source for vitamins as well.

I was under the impression that each tablet had 240 calories and then read closer and there are only 240 calories in 12 tabs..less than 500 calories per package.....I get more from a single Clif bar.Packaging is bulky. I want to keep it in its original packaging and breaking it down into a hiking pack is a pain.I was also under the impression that they were engineered to not induce thirst. I think that quality may be simply because there is not enough here to justify a glass of water. They may be good bait for something a little tastier. Will have to test that hypothesis.

I have tasted all 4 flavors and they taste great. I followed the full 8 day instructions and took only the survival tab, water and my prescribed medications. For all 8 days I didn't hardly feel hungry at all. I had plenty of energy to set up a camp site, gather fire wood and take some hikes in a wooded area. The only challenge I felt was knowing that I wasn't going to have a meal of actual food but that is a mental challenge, not a physical one.I wanted to really give these survival tabs a test so I next went on a 6 day camping trip and only used half the recommended number of tabs each day. (6 tabs instead of 12) Instead of taking a tab every hour I took a tab every other hour. I only noticed a little hunger starting to show on the 4th day, but I keep to my test. I was able to stay on the 6 tabs a day while still doing all of my camp chores and had plenty of energy.I think every individual should have the 8 day supply of these survival tabs in their bug out bags because used as recommended they will have no problem feeling hungry of or a lack of energy and they can stretch the usage for up to 16 days if they feel the need. I also talked with one individual that went a full 30 days eating nothing but these survival tabs and other than loosing 15 pounds of body fat he had no problems at all. This is why I highly recommend this product to everyone I know.
