These are small sized brass beads that work well for restringing a ukulele. I run the strings through the bead hole and then knot the string so that it won't pull out of the bead. It has worked good for me, and I have had no problems of the strings pulling out of the bridge pins with these.

These are designed to replace ball ends that have somehow snapped off steel guitar strings. That's an unlikely problem, for which these are an unlikely solution: Strings have extra windings at the tail to prevent breakage, and those windings would be hard to tie around these beads.Where they're more useful – aside from crafts applications – is to simplify stringing a nylon-string guitar. If you don't want to fuss with traditional multiple ties across the bridge, you can tie end of your string around this bead, then thread it through the back of the bridge. There's a very limited selection of "folk" nylon strings with ball ends preinstalled, and they don't sound great. These enable you to string up high-end La Bellas (etc.) with less fuss.

These beads look and feel very similar to the beads that come pre-installed on some new guitar strings. They work fine for me with no issues. Amazon sells a few different sets of very similar looking beads and these are cheaper than others that I checked.
