Switching to silk thread from cheap all-purpose poly thread has been amazing! I love this 100 weight for lightweight fabrics like voile, but I’ve also used it to hem a linen skirt, and the thread was essentially invisible in the fabric. Love it

I was sure I ordered black but I received rainbow. The thread is good quality and I will use it but not as I had originally intended.

While I've worked with silk for embroidery before, this was my first time using silk for hand sewing. I have to say, I've been converted! Superior Thread's Kimono silk is a #100 ultra fine 100% silk thread that comes on spools of 220 yards and is available in an amazing array of colors. To someone new to this thread it may seem daunting - #100 is extremely fine, and the thread is extremely slippery. These however are the qualities that make it great. With a thread this fine, it snugs inbetween the woven fibers of fabric, and the stitches end up practically invisible. (See my picture for the back of the piece I'm using this thread for, and keep in mind, I had to really zoom in to be able to see the stitches - each piece is just an inch long. From the front the stitches are invisible.) The slippery qualities of silk make this thread a dream to stitch with. Rather than tugging to work it through the fabric it practically glides between the layers.Price wise, this thread does come with a bit of sticker shock, with the average retail rate going anywhere between $6-$8 depending on where you buy it. That said, this is not the thread to use for everyday sewing, it would be wasted on that. Save it for the special projects that are hand sewn and enjoy the process just as much as you do the finished item.

What a beautiful thread. You have to see it in person, but silk thread is a beautiful thing, easy to work with and feels slippery with a little resin touch to them. I hemmed a pair of pants and while I am not the best tailor, using silk thread made me work more meticulously. I figured quality thread deserves quality stitching.
