A disclaimer: this was the first time I tried using this product, so it may be possible I did something wrong, I am not sure...This patina totally ruined the look of the holiday ornaments I was making as gifts. Now I need to redo them all over again. I knew the flux residue needed to be removed, so I cleaned it thoroughly with the denatured alcohol using a toothbrush, and then gave it a wash in soapy water to be sure, follwed by rinsing and drying. After applying the patina, the coverage was uneven, very dull and looked ugly like a badly oxidized copper. I even tried to clean some spots with a scotchbrite,removing the patina and reapplying it again. Same result. On the second item I used a different solder (also a 60/40 alloy but from a different supplier). On this one, the patina didn't even look like copper at all - it was a disgusting gray-brownish color looking more like rust. So, I had to take apart two finished items and am now redoing them.The item is not returnable, so it looks like I can't get a refund, even though the "satisfaction guarantee" on the bottle says otherwise.
