This is a good perch but it's almost too large in diameter for even a large parrot.

Revised 12/14/24: Dropped to 2 stars from 4. Perch has cracked in many places.Usually it takes a while for my yellow nape to adjust to any changes in his living environment. I was surprised that he pranced right on to it (Why did the parrot climb on the perch? To get to the tantalizingly delicious treat on the other side!). The texture is sandy, so, like sand paper, it gently wears down his nails while he's moving on it. It's just the right size for his travel cage. Couldn't ask for more!Why not 5 stars? The "sand" on the perch has a long crack that extends the length, so I question how durable this is going to be once he starts going at it.

My macaw is chewing it up. It won't last long before I need to buy another one. The grain itself is good and will probably suffice in keeping claws less sharp.

It's a little iffy for big birds. We had to add a support to the far edge away from the cage. Otherwise it's awesome.

This is marked XL. It took a while to get here. The length is fine and it looks to be of good quality, but the width is no way extra large and really small for my macaws' feet.
