I use a lot of tools like this, and this one is as good as any. It's easy to set up, easy to export data to excel, and the display is large enough to be seen from a distance. The only complaint I have is that there's no way to turn this thing off. Once you turn it on, it's on. If you pull the batteries out and put them back in, the logger comes back on. On the last page of the manual there's a statement that the logger will stay on for one hour, provided it's not logging or reading temperatures. If you press any button during this time, you will restart the one-hour timer. That's a silly feature.

I purchased this device for multiple purposes but have used it this winter to log local low temperature data to compare to online predictions.PROS: Seems to be very accurate when compared to another known Type K thermocouple device (non-logging) that I own. Support from Supco was prompt and extremely helpful when the user manual was unclear (see CONS below).CONS: The user manual seems to have been written by a person familiar with the device and written for someone also familiar with the device. It lacks clarity regarding for a first time user regarding the various techniques available to start recording, but Supco support was fast and efficient in getting me going. The tab with the hole for mounting the device broke soon after I installed it - disappointed!!!COMMENTS/CONCLUSIONS: This device comes with batteries installed, and the first one I received from Amazon had no working display and had totally discharged batteries (0.12V). That device would not work even with new batteries. Amazon replaced it, and the replacement had functional batteries and works fine. I recommend this device with reservations. The user manual could use more clarity, which I suggested to Supco support, but the manual remains unchanged. The mounting tab (screw hole) is extremely weak! Seems accurate and has huge logging capacity.

I use this product to measure temperatures in high temperature environments such as dryer exhaust vents and in ovens when checking temperatures for calibration. Using a normal thermocouple with a digital multi meter you have to watch the temperatures as they rise and fall. With this, I simply install the probe and begin logging. I am able to watch real time results as they graph on my laptop that is connected via the USB cable included.

Works OK, as advertised. Major limitation is that almost all control functions must be performed while the system is plugged into your PC.About the only thing you can do with it not plugged in is start recording and step through the data. You can not stop, reset, restart, adjust C/F temperature scale, data rate, or anything else except through the PC software. For $100 + it seems a little crude, still it is the best deal out there for a data logger with a thermocouple.
