About this item

  • JAPANESE STYLE PULL SAW: This flush cut saw is a “Pull Saw.” Most people are used to European saws, called “push saws,” which cuts through a pushing motion. On the other hand, Japanese hand saws cut materials via pulling and are called “pull saws.” In comparison to “push saws,” this Japanese product is lighter in weight, requires less power, and results in a cleaner edge.
  • JAPANESE STEEL: All SUIZAN Japanese saws consist of top quality Japanese steel. The high-quality steel makes razor sharp cuts.
  • MADE IN JAPAN: All SUIZAN woodworking tools are manufactured in Japan by Japanese master craftsmen. The whole process of making these tools are completed in one of Japan’s towns known for its craft-making tradition with a history of over 100 years.
  • BLADE FOR HARDWOOD AND SOFTWOOD: With this small hand saw, you can easily cut oak, sandalwood, ebony, mahogany, maple, walnut and pine with a robust blade for hardwood. The blade for softwood can be used for white cedar, Japanese cedar, larch, paulownia wood and many others. Not replaceable blade.
  • DIVERSIFY YOUR WOODWORKING LIFE: No matter if you are a master or a beginner, using traditional Japanese-style saws gives you a brand new experience and lets you make a wider range of woodworking products, thus changing your life!

The point of using a Japanese saw is to "cut with pulling force". Instead of pushing hard to cut, apply a light force when pulling and relax when pushing, so that you can cut smoothly without getting tired even after long hours of use. Feel and enjoy SUIZAN's authentic Japanese saws.

Great saw! If you are careful and go slow, you can get a straight cut with it. But it's really really tough. I'm working on some expensive material, so I wanted a very fine, thin cut. This saw gave exactly what I was looking for.

Several months ago I under took a improvement project of replacing my banister, spindles, rails and so on. This saw was perfect for the precision cuts required and for flush cutting dowel into Newell posts, amazingly so.Double sided saw with one side for soft wood and one for hard wood. Very easy to use, comfortable to use also, a good size handle makes it less annoying and tiresome to cut and being a fine saw the blade flexes nicely but never gets damaged so is sturdy under pressure and it comes at a good price, a price I think is well worth it.I highly recommend it.

I used the saw today and was pleasantly surprised, you would think for the cost it would be cheaply made or about as sharp as a spoon. But no the build quality was excellent and sharp as can be and cut super smooth with little effort. Would 100% recommend buying this saw!

This saw blade makes it super easy for flush cuts when installing bow tie inserts into cracked live edge projects. The blade is super flexible and is perfect for making precision cuts. Perfect!

Saw is small, very thin, and cuts well. Handle is comfortable, and worked nicely for the job I had to do. It is a bit too flexible, once it bends just a little where the blade goes into the handle it never cuts perfectly straight again.

The blade on this flush-cut saw is paper thin, so it can flex to get flush with your project face to trip off dowels or overhangs. Because there is NO offset to the teeth, they don't damage the face of your project. This is a Japanese PULL style saw, meaning it cuts on the pull back, NOT the push. This takes a couple of minutes (literally, it took me about 2 minutes) to get used to, but once you do, the motion is natural and easy to control.Add this to your tool kit, you won't regret it.

I am delighted with this simple saw. It helps me cut flush the plugs that hides those hideous pocket screw holes. I manage to cut them very flush without barely « scratching » the surrounding material. A quick wipe with a sandpaper finishes the job nicely. It’s flexible enough to reach tight corners and perform its given task everytime. The price is really good too. I must have cut 150+ plugs and it still cuts like new. Highly recommended to fellow woodworkers and carpenters in the trade.

I want to start this out by saying that I did not buy this saw because I needed it. This was bought solely based on seeing a friend of mine use one as well as my favorite YouTubers. I have waiting this long to review it because I wanted to use it on different materials and get past the learning curve.First and foremost...the learning curve. Get ready because there is one. Having grown up using a push saw for things, I figured that going to a pull saw would be easy. Not entirely. Pushing a pull saw can and will cause the blade to bend under pressure. However, take your time and use some scrap wood. It honestly only takes a few strokes to get the hang of it. Every now and then you will try to push it but the more you use it, the less that will happen. THEN, you will wonder why it took you so long to go to one.Secondly, this little saw can cut! I have used it on dowels, board trimming, cleaning dados and cutting Kaizen foam. It is extremely sharp and makes quick work of what ever you are needing. The result of the cut is smooth and requires very little sanding. Make sure to pay attention to the hardwood/softwood sides of the saw. The thin blade curves when you need it to without gouging the surrounding surface. Given the thin blade, the handle was my worry. The handle is easy to hold and allows you to make great cuts with little effort. A death grip isn't needed. Let the saw blade do the work and you will also be amazed.Overall, this little saw has sold me on pull saws. I will be ordering other sizes and styles of Suizan saws.Like the other reviewers have stated, I love it and don't know why I waited so long to get one.
