These bells are actually about 4 1/2" tall each, by 4 1/2" wide, and they hang about 20 1/4" from top of rope to bottom bell. They have a bit of a hollow sound and look a little cheap up close. But if you are looking for a "large" bell decoration, they look decent from a distance. The large size makes them a little unwieldy to "ring" without knocking them around a bit. The jingle bells inside the bell jingle, and then they make a hollow bell tone when they hit around inside the bell. Good for decor, not so good if you want an easy to ring bell.

I love chimes and bells and gentle gongs. I really wanted to love these bells, but alas, they surprised me.This is evident if you look really closely at the product page pics, but I sure missed it when I ordered these; they hang on rope twine. That dampens the sound and is pretty rustic looking. If that’s the look you’re going for, great. Personally, I don’t much care for it. (If you use them as shown on the product page, as part of a door wreath, they look OK.)The second surprise…there are wooden balls strung above each of the 7 bells, which clack when you shake the bells. Don’t much care for clacking when my ears are looking for tinkling. Then the bells themselves. They sound to me more clankly than tinkly.Decided to hang them on my front porch along with my several wind chimes. There is a gentle breeze today, but it seems to swing the whole 7 bell unit as opposed to making them ring (or clank😁).Lots of people train animals to ring bells hung on doors to be let outside. (I won’t do that again…my cats rang at all hours when they had door bells to smack…it was pretty funny, as the smacking would increase in frequency the longer it took to let them out already, but it ain’t that funny at 2 a.m.). If that’s your plan, you might be happier with other bells. If you just want a nice rustic look, you may just love these.

My daughter visits with her beautiful belgian malinois rescue dog. The dog had lived her entire life chained up in this old guy's front yard. Apparently he taught her to chase cats (up until her chain and collar were choking her) and I shudder to think what she would have done if she caught up with one.In addition to the way-too-many kitties I've rescued and are now indoor kitties, there are a couple that live in and around my garage and at least one that belongs to one of my neighbors. We live in the boonies, so there are also possums and raccoons and bunnies and deer. So, to save lives and vet bills, I needed a set of bells that I can keep by the back door to ring outside the door before Miss-I'm-Not-On-A-Chain-And-I-Can-Catch-ANYTHING OUTSIDE is unleased out to the yard! These are perfect!

These are beautiful and are going to be such a wonderful addition to my Christmas decor. They're very farmhouse, but elegant.
