I was so happy when I got this! I have been wanting a good tape player, and they are hard to find for a good price. This was better than any of the used ones going for twice the price on eBay, and I am shocked at the sound quality. It is one of the best stereos I have ever owned.

I like using this radio when I'm grilling outside or doing work in the garage and gets decently loud and it's nice and compact.

This tape player worked great for the first few months but now that I have been using it for six months, it has started playing tapes more slowly. This indicates that the belt is worn out and needs replacing. Don't recommend buying it as it did not even last a year playing tapes properly.

Excellent device! It brings back old memories of having a radio like this 55 years ago. I love that I can tape things. I am doing tapes on my family tree, stories from a child upnuntil today and I am 72. Besides reporting about family, I will be giving a month to month of things that's going on now and in the future cause the world I getting crazier and crazier. So, I want by family line, after me, to know the truth about the past and what went on. The books and the scribes, government, politicians, and corrupt system will be written based on what they want the future population to know about the past which a lot will be false information. So, I want by families members to know the truth!

We found this sturdily packaged handsome boom box to be made of flimsy plastic. The box it came in was stronger than the item itself. Because the batteries did not fit the item very easily, we used the handy wire that plugs into a wall socket. However, the wire kept falling out of the item. We then put electrical tape all around the wire to keep it from falling off the item. Then we followed directions, inserted a favorite tape, and pressed the "Play" button (it goes down rather than in),, and the tape actually began to go round and round. However, no sound would come out of it! We checked the settings with the instructions and tuned the volume knob all the way up. We did try to welcome this item but we feel its maker has taken advantage of the customer. With a beautifully designed product, why not take the trouble to produce it with quality material, and to be sure that it is sturdy as well as elegant, and -- at the very least -- that it works.

I was so excited about this cassette player the design was cute, price was affordable but it has damaged 2 precious vintage cassettes, it does something that makes the tape stock & & the actual tape comes out and it gets tangled on the mechanism. Im so upset. this happened 2 times so I wont risk any more cassettes

Picked up the Studebaker Portable Retro Home Audio Stereo in gold and black, wanting a small stereo to play audio cassettes that could also link to my iPod (a double whammy of classic formats:) Sound quality is perfectly fine for what it is: a small mono speaker, often playing from lower quality recordings. The device itself is classy looking, but almost entirely plastic. Great for setting on a shelf like I'm using it, but I don't feel like it would hold up well to a lot of moving around. Tape player has worked reliably on several new and old cassettes, no playback problems or devouring of tapes. The eject button stuck on the first tape, had to gently pry the door open. Since then it has always at least popped the door, though not always a full open. It pulls the rest of the way fine, and I am assuming it is a tight mechanism that needs a little breaking in (works perfect when empty, just slowed by the weight of a tape). AUX In port works great with my iPod. Biggest complaint would be the lack of a hard "Off" switch, the Tape setting is supposed to double as this, but I can often hear static when leaving it there, so I have taken to entirely unplugging the stereo to reduce power consumption.

Well I bought this casette Recorder & Player for the reason that I have good music on casettes Christmas song by Jim Nabor " (Gomer Pile USMC Comedy series TV)" which is talented & great singer. I did not want to discard them due to the fact we have many cassette to play. This unit is compact, sounds good and performed well. The only problem is that it does not have a counter for the recording side of it. The price is a bit expensive for the radio AM FM cassette. I was expecting a bigger size as a radio in all b/c on line the picture look a lot bigger as unit.I am satisfy, it play good and so far no problem with the cassette player. I would recommend this product to buy.

The radio looks nice. But looks can only go so far. I live in my RV and I bought this to mount inside the rig, so I already expected I would not be returning it as I'm drilling holes into it. My intended uses are as follows (in order of importance): 1. Play cassettes. 2. Listen to the radio 3. Use the Auxiliary input. The first usage is OK. It doesn't seem like the device will eat my tapes anytime soon. However I'm not sure that the buttons to control tapes will last. They are not flimsy but they require a fair bit of pressure to engage them. Now the thing that bothered me the most about playing cassette tapes on this is that they have such an annoying hissing sound. Initially I could only get the hissing to go away by holding the antenna. What?! That's so weird. What kind of interference is this? I immediately made the decision that the antenna had to go before I mount this device. But what about listening to the radio? How would I accomplish that without an antenna? Before I answer that question, let me say that I accidentally discovered that the tape interference disappears when using DC current instead of AC. Well clearly someone messed up the AC circuit then. Doesn't matter to me coz I will be using this thing on DC once it's mounted. Now for the radio. It picks up FM stations just fine. The old school dial is classic, but I quickly missed the digital tuners we find these days. I forgot how hard it is not to lose the channel you want no matter how slowly you turn this dial. Oh well, vintage is vintage. Can't complain about that too much. But AM radio? Forget about it. It's not able to pick up anything. And if anything sorta catches on, the volume is so low you can't hear anything even on maximum. So I basically did not even bother to check anything else. Time to mount. My final set up is as follows : I soldered a permanent DC input from my battery into this thing. I soldered a headphone output into this thing (the speaker is OK, but I need more umph). I soldered an AM antenna into this thing (I used an external AM antenna from my old SHARP stereo. Now I actually get AM radio). I also soldered an FM antenna (for this I just bought an HD TV antenna and it works great even though this is clearly not a TV).Overall I think this radio was a great option for my intended purpose and it's easy enough to open up and solder onto the circuitry. Whether you want it or not depends on what you need it for. But don't be too harsh on it. It's only $30 after all.
