I finally stopped buying the cheaper ratchets. These are much better quality and function.There are reviews that point out having to press 2 points to release. Not sure if it is this is what they are talking about but once released, you only need to pre the white tab to spool out more length. Hope this is helpful.Appearance is nice as well.

I purchased these a few months ago for my new boat/trailer. They have been used in saltwater 95% of the time and have held up great.

Finally replaced the manual transom straps that takes forever to strap the boat onto the trailer. Sometimes you smack your hands trying to release or tighten it up. The velcro on those manul straps comes loose or it goes missing. These strapinno stainless steel retractable straps works like it should. Took 15 minutes to install using the extra mounting bracket which align it perfectly on a ShoreLand'r trailer. Just came back from fishing at Lake of the Woods in Minnesota/Canadian border for an entire week. Boat did not move out alignment from the trailer Works like a champ. It took probably 5 seconds to loosen strap from boat. My son and I always time ourselves when we launch our boat. Took us 1 minute to prep and launch. Serious fishermen here.. have no time to waste at the loading dock. Next location - Bender Park in Wisconsin.. hitting up Lake Michigan.

If they'd only used this ratchet strap to tie down King Kong, he'd still be in captivity.Beefy, elegant, well engineered and easy to use. Buy a couple and you're set for life. Every now and then a truly great product comes along. This is one of them.
