How Best to Apply and Remove Painters Tape
Apply to clean, dry surface
Carefully add tape to surfaces you want to protect, applying pressure as you go.
Wait it out
Secure the tape firmly with your hands or use a putty knife. Wait 45-60 minutes before starting to paint. Once the paint is completely dry to the touch you can start removing the tape.
Remove carefully
Taking your time, lift up the painter's tape and pull it back on itself, removing it at a 45-degree angle. You can also use a putty knife or razor blade to score along the edge of the tape.
Sharp, clean lines
Once the tape has been removed you'll enjoy a sharp, clean line and a professional-looking paint job.
- Use caulk to seal the tape to rough surfaces
- Use wide tape for windows, corners, and trim
- Clean and dry the area first, to ensure the tape sticks

This tape does not work well on certain finishes. Won't stick to glossier surfaces. Used on several projects with matte finish and semi-gloss, had many areas that snuck behind the tape that needed to be touched up. Will not buy again, will instead bite the bullet for the pricier, brand-name painter's tape as this did not work for the projects we needed it for.

This tape sticks well, doesn't leave glue on the paint, and comes off easily. There is also a lot of tape per roll for the price. I always add a coat over the tape to get crisp lines and this worked with this tape. Overall, I would purchase it again.

This is my favorite blue tape. I'm generally using it for woodworking, not painting. It's cheap, sticks as well as it should, and doesn't pull off varnish.

Frogtape substitute imo. Great for wall trims just need to keep it properly stored. Always peel off while walls are wet. If using a paint sprayer make sure not to have paint dust settle over it. Plastic bag should work fine. I found the gel wouldn't stick as well toward the end of the roll but could just been my mishandling. Overall solid for everyday projects.

For my design classes, the thin tape was perfect. Easy to tear off pieces of tape, many of them held things together well. They did very small damage to the paper, but with sticking the tape pieces to the table/clothes first and then applying it to paper worked without issue!Drawing with watercolors, this tape works well with framing the picture (no paint goes underneath if applied correctly) - Overall, very handy. I have it still and it has been a few months, literally use it nearly every week or so. Great price for such a handy set of tape rolls! 💖💙💖

This tape added hours to my kitchen repaint job. I mean 6-7 hours. Basically a days work. The pic illustrates the inability of the tape to come off. This is the following day, I couldn't imagine trying to remove this after 14 days like it says you can. It took approximately 10 minutes to get the tape off in the pic I've attached. Imagine an entire room. Windows, doors, cabinets. You grab any part of it and It immediately tears. It's not that I paid money for a poor product It's the work and time it took to clean up after it. Paint seeps under it as well. I've painted many rooms and never experienced this. If I was supplying my own supplies and paying someone to paint for me they would have charged me at least $300. more for the extra days work. I rarely take the time to write reviews because they don't seem to matter so this is more of a warning. Don't be tempted to buy this tape, you'll hate yourself in the morning and possibly forever.
