I got this for my 2.5 year old, and she loves the sounds the horse makes! She does understand to ride it, but I think she still may be too young to get the full enjoyment of play out of it. We will keep trying as she gets older. I am very nostalgic for these toys, as I played with my dad's version in my grandma's house when I was a kid! I think toys like this never go out of style (I hope), and this one is so fun because it makes fun horsey sounds (neigh and trotting)!

This stick horse surprised me in many ways! The overall build quality is above average. Initial assembly was a little frustrating and time consuming but not bad enough to knock stars off.Finding where the battery pack on the back of the horses head was a bit of a pain but once you found it, it was hard to miss. All the hair of the mane is smack dab in the middle of a velcro strip and gets in the way constantly. The pack is packaged extremely tight in there and while taking it our wasn't too bad, stuffing it back in was a real challenge since it's tethered without much extra give. There is something sewn onto it to take some of the stress off the wiring for the pack and that was stinkin' thinkin' right there.Screwing the handles in on the side of the head was a trial and error that required a good bit of finesse and effort to even get the screw to catch the threads properly. There's a chance that we cross-threaded one side as it took a Herculean effort to tighten it down, but yet the other side wasn't a whole lot easier either. Something to be desired in that QA there.The finished assembly was pretty solid and leads me to believe this will take a fair amount of abuse...which is good since this toy is made to literally ride hard.It was a pleasant surprise that the ears make different sounds when you push the button on each of them. Our 3 year old daughter absolutely loves this toy and never seems to put it down.

The horse has to be assembled. It does come separately as pictured. No tools necessary for the assembly. I only needed a screwdriver to open the battery case. It does not come with the batteries. They are needed for the sounds when pressing the buttons on the horse's ears. The horse is very soft and cute. The pole can be added to ride around using the wheels on the bottom of the stick. This is a great toy for all ages. Even adults are using these to have hobby horse competition parties.

This adorable brown plush and wooden stick pony seems to be well made and should last a long time. The plush head is well sewn and fur does not shed. The wooden parts of the stick pony have been well sanded so no rough areas were found. It has some great features including...A faux leather bridleTwo wooden hand grips on each side of neckStick pony can be made more compact by unscrewing dowel rod into 2 partsWooden wheels at bottom of dowel rod for ease of movementTail for the pony made out of the same faux fur as the mane (fastens with velcro)Battery compartment is well hidden under the ponies mane requires 2 AA batteries (not included) for sound to function.Ears make sound when pushed one ear makes a neighing sound and the other makes a klippidy klop of horse hoof sounds. Both can be played at same time or separately(there is no shut off so it cycles through 4 or 5 times before shutting off again).This stick pony has such a sweet face it invites the kids to come and ride it.
