Pros: This stair stepper is exactly as advertised. I was impressed with how stable the machine is. I tried it both on hardwood and low pile carpet and it felt sturdy and strong during use. I was also impressed with how quiet it is. There is a rubber cushion on the rear bottom of each pedal that bottoms out against the frame on the downward stroke. The only real noise this produces is a click when that cushion impacts the frame. You can feel this working in your legs pretty quickly. I also think it will help with balance and overall strength because you do have to work to stay balanced on the pedals. Something to hold onto might be helpful to start as you build up to standing freely on the machine. Overall construction seems very good. The machine also includes tools to ensure that the hardware stays tight during use. Lastly, I really like the portability of this product. You can get it out when you need it, put it wherever you want, and tuck it away when you are done.Cons: The foot pedals are small. I wear a men's size 10 shoe. The instruction suggest using this machine barefoot. To get my entire foot on the pedal I need to move my foot forward to where my toes are getting smashed at the front of the pedal. With shoes on, and my toe box as far forward as possible, about an inch of my shoe hangs off the back of the pedal. For people with big feet this might be a problem. Also, the pedals are pretty close together. I am a wider follow and when I walk or use stairs I usually have my feet shoulder width apart. The pedals on this machine are much closer together than that, so when I use the machine my stance isn't completely natural. I imagine this will get easier as I use the machine more, but I do have to pay attention during use and make sure I'm using good form. Lastly, the instructions have extremely small print and lack detail. For instance, it doesn't discuss changing the battery on the readout. Just to help out, you have to pry the circular computer module up and out of the frame tube and the battery lies underneath. All that said, this is a well built and useful machine for some light exercise. The biggest benefit is the portability, but unfortunately there are some costs for that small footprint. I think the benefits do outweigh the hang ups and will include this is my exercise routine.

I don’t like the fact that the resistance bands are loose and non adjustable thus making it impossible to get an upper body workout.

This is a really convenient way to exercise and it doesn't take up much space so I didn't have to worry about re-adjusting anything in my house. I sit right next to my TV and I can hop on it whenever I need a workout. when family and guests come over everybody wants a turn to walk on it.I was really ready to use it out of the box with no real installation needed. The first few days I did notice a strong smell likely from the lubricant oil used in the bearings but it thankfully went away after a few uses.

This is a fairly decent little stepper for the price! I used to have one of these in college and it was definitely more expensive if memory serves, so for the $36 price tag this is a bargain! Especially if you have a small apartment or space and can't sacrifice the room for a bigger machine. It's a repetitive kind of cardio but it's great to pull out when watching some TV or listening to a podcast, it's easy to use and easy to store. The Resistance bands are pretty cheap and pointless, and sometimes the screen doesn't work properly, so it definitely is a "you get what you pay for" kind of thing but if you need a good alternative for cardio when the weather gets cold.

I was looking for something that I could use to get some movement while reading and this was perfect. There is a knob to adjust the machine to the desired resistance. It is small enough to store easily and not too heavy so that it can be easily moved. It is pretty quiet when being used. There is a display to show the time, count and calories. I have found my timer to be off compared to my phone timer. It came with resistance bands to work upper body as well but I haven’t used them. Overall this is easy to use and serves my purpose. I’m happy with the purchase.
