It's hard to complain about steel plates. As far as I can tell they're exactly what I was expecting, two 1/4" steel plates 8 by 8 inches. The accuracy of dimensions is about what you'd expect for rolled steel, but I can't complain that much. My main issue is that I just with they had cleaned the plates a little before throwing them in a box. When I opened it, a bunch of slag flakes fell out, and the inner box was damaged, from rolling around in the box I assume.

This is a 12"x12" sheet of hot-rolled 12 gauge steel plate, no more, no less. I measured it at 0.105" so not 1/8"It's a perfectly fine piece of steel, but the price is much higher than I'd expect. I suppose if you need one shipped to you free (Assuming you have Prime) this might be a reasonable price.For some reason this was shipped to me in a large box (about 14"x14"x20") with a sheet of paper thrown in for "packing". Would be funny if it weren't so wasteful.

Very high quality. Spec was right on. Packaging was great. No rust or flaws. Just be careful of sharp edges when handling (which is totally normal).

Anyone ordering most likely knows how to weld and fabricate... so the fact that this is slightly warped and is not deburred is most likely no big deal. It's true to size and it isn't as precise as cold rolled, but for my use, it will be fine. I'll be cutting this up to make gussets for various steel frames.Just know that when you get this it's most likely not perfect

I originally reviewed this steel when I opened it up and looked it over and thought it looked pretty good. I mean, it’s just mild steel plate, there’s not much to go wrong with it. So I just got this back to my garage, though, and noticed it looked a little thinner than my other 1/4” plate I had. So I measured it and wouldn’t you know, it’s a fair amount short of 1/4” thick. I measured both plates in several places and the measurements were all consistently short of 1/4”. Pictures posted, and the last pictures show a piece of 1/4” plate I had already sitting above this supposed 1/4” plate. The old plate of mine is darker and you can see it’s thicker than this plate beneath it.Now I’m a hobbyist fabricator so I’m not making anything that’s super critical measurements are exact, so it will still work fine for most of my work. But you should be aware that if you need legit 1/4” plate, this isn’t it.

I ordered this as a Pizza Steel to use in my oven. What I received was a piece of steel with sharp, knarled edges on one side that will cut a person when handled. Another edge has rust, and on another side, there is a thick band of rust. The entire sheet of steel is warped. When handled, it left black marks on my hands. This is not suitable as a pizza peel, and I will not be using it.
