The hammer looks like it was not formed properly or was used improperly then sent as new. Scratches in the plate but that will likely occur during use so maybe used also. Would have sent it back but during the holidays I didn't have time. I'll be ordering a replacement from a different source.

El yunque absorbe muy bien el impacto de los golpes y cumple su función, pero el martillo es un 1/5 muy mala calidad, lo usé apenas 3 veces y así quedó. Aclarando que fue usado en joyería, nada exagerado, es decir que bastaron unos golpecitos para que se rompiera.

I bought this set to use in making wire wrapped jewelry. It works great on copper wire and leaves a really nice finish. I tested the anvil with a larger hammer (8 oz.) and the rubber base held it steady. Really pleased with this.

I was most interested in the block and rubber base. The metal block is smooth, flat and heavy. It separates from the rubber base easily yet still fits snug when together. The hammer is a child’s toy. Extremely light weight and not suitable for any real use. The gold foil arrived flaking off from the head of the hammer and it was loosely attached to the handle. I tried to use it to strike a metal design stamp, just to see, and the stamp left a considerable dent in the head. I pitched it after a single use. 5 stars for the block and base - the hammer doesn’t even deserve a rating.
