worked great, but my hinges are completely shot. bad design + 30 years of abuse. make sure your bushing hole is wobbled out. if it is new bushings wont help. the tool works great though.

Just the thing for punching out bushings that were in the truck for 20 years, as long as I could get good alignment. Naturally one bushing was crowded by the step at the bottom of the door, but the other three I had to remove came right out with one (firm) tap. Excellent tool, for installing new ones as well.

Today, February 19th, 2017, I replaced the door hinge pins and bushings on my 1998 GMC K1500 Standard Cab with this tool and the door hinge tool and door spring compressor made by the same company. Before starting the process of removing the bushings and pins, lube them up with some WD40 or some kind of penetrating oil, it makes the job a lot messier but a lot easier. The tool is made of some cheap metal and began to mushroom out the top after a few hard blows with a 3lb hammer. The tool did make removing the bushings so much easier and helped when reinstalling new bushings although I would not recommend driving home the new bushings with this tool. Just get them started and strait in the bore, then tap in the new bushings with a hammer. I would recommend this tool to the weekend warrior or the professional technition.

Made driving out the old bushings and installing the new ones without breakage a snap. Made the job something almost pleasant if that is even something that can be said about changing GM door hinge pins!Add to this the pin popper https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000RI9GJ6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and make the whole job pleasant!

This tool made it mutch easier to remove and replace the hinge pin bushings on my chevy truck. Highly recommended to make the job easier. If you are going to do this job, I also recommend purchasing the spring compressor. I tried the zip tie method to compress the spring, and it did not work well for me; the zip ties kept failing and it was difficult.I used a 1/4" ratchet extension to hammer out the pins (fits well on the end of the pin without slipping off), but in afterthought would recommend the steck tool for pin removal if you can spare the extra money. It is not necessary, but would probably make the job easier.
