Perfect fit for my John Deere 1438hs. Two screws and three bolts and it was super pimple to install. I’ve used it for a season and it had done very well turning the engine over. Well built and works every time starting.

Worked out of the box. Bought it in July '24 now September '24. Used the mower 4 times because of the drought here and didnt have to mow...Tried to crank it today and the fly wheel hung in the starter twice. Had to remove the engine cover and unhang it. After unhanging it from the fly wheel the solenoid wasnt working anymore...Then had to jump the solenoid twice to get it to crank as I think the solenoid is also fried now.

Slapped the solenoid and new starter on and fired right up. John Deere LA115 rider.

It did mot work out of the box. It will not release the flywheel after the cranking.

I have actually not installed the started (mine is going out, but has not yet failed). However, I ordered this because of the solenoid. Changing the solenoid was simple and straight forward. The only problem I had is that it only lasted a week and I had to replace it again. These things DO happen, and I can't say with any certainty that the product line is...less than optimal, only that the one I received was most definitely defective (another reason I have yet to install the starter).
