About this item

  • Two 9-pin FireWire 800 ports, each with transfer rates up to 800Mbps
  • One 6-pin FireWire 400 port, each with transfer rates up to 400Mbps
  • Includes full/standard profile installation bracket
  • Built with a native PCI Express chipset, no bridge chip
  • Internal power connector for high-powered FireWire devices

This 3 Port PCI Express FireWire card comes equipped with a low profile bracket for installation in small form factor PCs, and includes an optional full-size bracket for installation in a standard-sized PC case. The FireWire card can be installed in a PCIe slot to add two IEEE1394b (FireWire 800 - 9 pin) ports and one IEEE1394a (FireWire 400 - 6 pin) port, providing broad compatibility with a wide range of FireWire devices (e.g. DV camcorders, external hard drives, digital cameras, etc.). The 2x FireWire 800 and 1x FireWire 400 card features a native (single chip) PCI Express chipset, which provides faster, more reliable and cost-effective performance than expansion cards that utilize a "bridge" chip.

After many months of trying conscientiously to use a prior firewire card, I installed this one and 'bingo', everything works exactly as it should. My M-Audio Firewire functions flawlessly with this card. Hoorah!

After trying a few cards this is the first one that works well with my presonus firepod audio interface. The 2 port version from the same company was not compatible (super distorted audio). This installed easily (hardware and software). Windows 10 found the driver immediately and it worked as expected.I’d have zero hesitations recommending this. I’m currently running 16 channels of input and 8 stereo outputs.

I got it for audio purposes exclusively. I own an aging MOTU Ultralite MK1 and needed to connect it to my HP SFF 800 G1. It's a low profile PC so I needed a card with a low profile bracket. (it also comes with a standard mounting bracket).Installed it and didn't need to do anything. Windows 7 detected it and runs flawlessly so far. A very Mac like experience :)

I needed a firewire card with a specific chipset to interface with certain high-end audio recording equipment. I was able to find low profile cards locally, OR cards with the correct chipset, but could not locally find any low profile cards that would meet my needs. This card arrived quickly (less than a week) and was exactly what I needed. Well packed with tracking information. Thank you!

This is a great little card with one shortcoming. The Good: this product works with 64 Bit Windows 7 right out of the box.The Bad: it requires a Floppy Drive power connector, sometimes called a FD Connector or a FDD connector or an SP4 connector. These connectors are not available on modern computers like my new Gateway SX2840 Slimline desktop. The power supply in this machine has only SATA connectors and no unused connector. Unfortunately I could not find a SATA to SATA+SP4 connector. So I ended up having to buy a StarTech Sata to LP4 15 Pin Power Adapter and an Ultra Molex to SATA and Floppy 4-Pin Adapter to get the extra 4 pin power connection. Once powered up, it works as advertised.
