So open it up to find broken 3/8" Dovetail Adapter Luckily I bought the magnet with it and didn't need use of the adapter today just not happy with the quality of accessories, but the dovetail indicator and magnet did do its job today.

I've owned many Starrett items in the past and so when I wanted to get a quality Dial Test Indicator to use with my Mill I immediately went to the best. Unfortunately I'll never be able to comment on the quality of the Indicator as the adapter in the set won't fit the dovetail in the Indicator (in addition to other issues -see my marked-up pic). I mean the dovetail on the adapter wasn't even a close fit, it was way off. Not just a little burr or something there was no way this thing would go on.I don't mind spending the extra money on quality tools but I expect them to at least function as designed. Consequently, I'll be returning the set to pick up a Mitutoyo or Brown & Sharpe instead.

Purchased Starrett because it's an American made product giving American workers jobs. Of course it was a little disconcerting to find this Made in China. I'm sure it's accurate, as I have not had an opportunity to test the indicator, but the point is the loss of domestic jobs. Maybe I'll have better luck finding American made products with Brown and Sharpe in the future.
