This sensor valve is threaded into the thermostat housing. I broke off a port on the valve so replaced the housing and the vacuum valve at the same time. I suggest that technicians use an anti-seize or non-hardening waterproof sealant so it can be unscrewed later. This thermal valve requires no electrical ground connection, so thread sealant will not change the effect of the valve. If you think you need it, you should test the one you have now in a pot on the stove.If you don't need it, keep your money.
