The position and color of the signal flags can be used to designate which doctor is inside or status of each room (occupied, ready for clean-up, patient ready for lab or X-rays, etc)...Simply flick the appropriate flag as you enter or leave a room and the entire staff knows its status.

While I can tell from my uses that these would be great for their intended purpose at a medical office, there are **many** possibilities for uses with these.I got several of these in different sizes with different numbers of flags. This is what I am using them for:* Chore Markers. I write the chores/tasks that need to get done that day onto the flags with dry/erase marker, and as they are completed, the flags get pushed in.*Board game phase trackers. Sometimes with certain games you need to keep track of what phase that you are in, and some players have a hard time focusing. This lets you visibly mark the phases and push the flags in when that phase is over so that you don't have to keep explaining it to the people who aren't paying attention to everything that is happening in the game.* Outside our home office to indicate whether or not it is okay to be interrupted and whether we are working on work or fun.The flags move easily and don't jam up. They mount easily. You CAN use a level etc to make sure that it is perfectly straight, but I just put it where I like it, and then mark the screw holes with a pencil, start the holes with a nail or screw, re-align the device, and hang it up.

I have a home office and it never fails that when I'm recording a video or audio someone bursts in and interrupts me so I got the idea to use this item as a way to let people know when it's okay to come in or to go away. I wrote a clear status on each tab and I just lift the appropriate tag at the appropriate time to let family & friends know what I'm doing in here. It's already after only just a few days been very helpful. If you get creative you would be amazed at the uses this could have, for example:1. Let people know when the baby is sleeping.2. When you are doing homework.3. When you just want left alone.4. Whether you are accepting calls/visitors..5. A way of letting people know how long you will be in the bathroom (Just saying..)6. How long time out will last this time.These are just a few uses that I can think of offhand. It's one of those items that you just don't realize how handy it is until you have it in your possession. It's great for the Dr.'s office sure, but it can be just as useful for you too!The product itself is nice. It has a nice smooth swing to the panels and you can write on them with a marker or use labels on them.5 Star Review!

Ok, so I'll admit I am not using this in a clinical setting. It's a prop in some video I'm shooting. However, I am impressed with the build quality, and sure it would work fine for years in a hospital or clinic. It looks easy to disinfect and anything that facilitates communication and better patient outcomes I am in favor of.
