This pen writes well on a laminated map. Well made, small but sturdy point. Allowed me to mark the route and stops of a hop-on-hop-off bus tour of Paris clearly. Recommend.

It's the best so far in labelling garden plants. It seemed to last under the sun and other elements.

Rain and lots of sun and my garden signs are still readable. Lasts longer than other pens I have tried. I would buy again, great value, good quality.

These are great - the ink stayed sharp on plant labels I had outdoors over the winter. It writes smoothly and dark. You have to store it horizontally as the pen dries out if you don't. If you do, just place it horizontally and it will come back. It is a smidge thick for me in terms of the point but otherwise, a great pen for gardeners.

I have to give these more time to dry than the metallic sharpies I was using, but they write very nicely. The ink has a strong oder to it, like rancid tomatoes. It's nothing that deters me from using them but it's such a distinctive thing that I thought I'd mention it.

Nothing lasts forever on plant labels left exposed to the elements, but this has done the best of any marker I've tried yet. Dries pretty quick and writes smoothly.

I used this to mark my golf balls. A regular sharpie would come off before the round was over. This marker the mark lasts on the ball for several rounds. Even if it's wet out. Definitely recommend if you want marks to last a long time.

Am I the last to know about this little garden plant marker secret or have I made a special discovery? 🤔😂 I was cleaning the soil off of some of my summer plant markers before putting them away for next spring. The soil and mud on them was pretty heavy, so I sprayed some Dawn Powerwash on them as extra muscle... and to my surprise, the Dawn Powerwash took the permanent garden marker right off! I've been so pleased with the Staedtler permanent garden marker...my tags held up all summer in extreme heat and rain, without any fading or smearing! That's why I was shocked to see the ink lifting right off once I sprayed on the Dawn Powerwash! It's like getting all new plant labels for next season for free! 🥰 Gardening is expensive, so I'll take all the little savings I can find! 🙌🎉 #DawnPowerwash #Staedtler #gardening #gardenmarker #plantmarkers

I was in search of the "best" outdoor marker for nursery purposes that did not fade when used on nursery tags. After researching the options, it appeared that the Staedtler and Artline garden markers were considered the best in the business, so I decided to test them. At the time of purchase the Staedtlers cost $4.99 per marker, while the Artline were much cheaper at $1.42 per marker. In July, 2022, I placed two test plastic tags in a garden bed with the marker name as well as the blackest dot I could write next to the name. The tags were positioned facing directly south (towards the sun). One tag I placed vertically, while the second tag I placed at an angle to receive the most direct sunlight possible (in the attached photo, this is the tag on the right). I left the tags in place for 13 months, and you can see the results. The Artline markers faded dramatically, with the angled tag fading about 75% while the vertical tag faded about 50%. The Staedtler tags faded singnificantly less - with the vertical tag showing almost no fading, and the angled tag showing perhaps 10%.Bottom line: I would recommend the Staedtler as the better option if longevity in field conditions is of utmost concern.
