Not to be indelicate, but the point of this is to create a very slippery coating on your toilet bowl. I used this spray as directed on a clean dry surface and let it sit for an hour. I have to say that I have not noticed any difference in the effectiveness of flushing.I heard about this product from the usually-reliable Wirecutter website. This is one of the few times their recommended product disappointed.

This product is huge disappointment, plus its expense and the smell is intense. Save your money so NOT worth it. And I live alone, so the bowl is only getting use from a party of one ... get it?

I got this product to use on the porcelain toilets in my RV. They are electric flush toilets that don't use quite as much water as conventional home toilets do, so they don't flush as efficiently. I thoroughly cleaned the toilets, drained the water, let them get completely dry, then applied the product as directed. The flushing has definitely improved, but not as much as I'd hoped. There are still skid marks left behind that necessitate multiple flushing, which I'd hoped to avoid, though it's better than before. I'll keep using the product since there is an improvement with it.

It makes the toilet water proof but doesn’t prevent stools from attaching to it

It helps keep the bowl cleaner but not clean. You have to reapply it frequently and even then there often will be spots remaining after flushing. I wouldn't buy this even if the price were reduced 90%. At more than $36 it's definitely a waste of money.

We bought this product after reading the Wirecutter review. We had just updated our bathrooms with new dual flush wall hung toilets. Like in the article, our toilets have only the smallest pool of water at the bottom (maybe 1 cup's worth? everything else is just dry bowl). And like the article, embarrassing streaks were the norm. We had to wait several weeks to get the spray because of back order, but during that time we got used to having to clean the toilets almost every other day. Since we've received and used the spray, there are no more streaks!! We've gone over 2 weeks without stains or streaking and it's still going strong. It's been a total win for us. Based on the other reviews which have been less positive, I'm guessing this product works best on dual flush, water saving toilet models with small water pools.

According to the municipal water company, an orange stain at the waterline in our main bathroom toilet is caused by a harmless bacterium named Serratia Marcescens. The basement bathroom toilet, on the other hand, gets a black ring at the waterline due to infrequency of use. Both toilets show these colored "stains" at the waterline just a week after cleaning. I followed the directions for this toilet coating, cleaning toilets so they were spotless, then flushed and used the toilet brushes to push as much water out as possible. I let the surface of the bowl above the water dry completely and used paper towels to ensure it was very dry. Then I applied the toilet coating as directed. Image 1 is the main toilet after 3 weeks - no hint of the orange stain! And image 2 is the basement toilet after 3 weeks - no black line developing at the waterline. This is a pricey product but nothing else I know of inhibits or prevents the appearance of the waterline "stains." I will buy again and have already told several friends about how well it works.

Like others, I bought this after reading a rave review from the NY Times Wirecutter. This is a very pricey disappointment.I followed the instructions explicitly, making sure the toilet bowl was dry above the water line before applying this spray. For the first two days I thought it was doing a good job of keeping the bowl clean, when solids would have stuck before. No more. Now it's completely ineffective.I do not recommend it and will not buy it again.(I know that photos make reviews more believable, but this is not a situation where photos would be appropriate.)
