This tool has been a game-changer, saving me both money and peace of mind. I bought it after a new TV stopped working, and not long after I had a close call with a potential house fire caused by an air purifier malfunction. After getting the tool, I checked the outlet where the air purifier had been plugged in and discovered the hot and neutral wires were reversed, causing reverse polarity. This is what led to the UV bulb fixture burning out. I then checked the outlet for the TV and found it had the same issue.Concerned, I went through the entire house and checked every outlet. Thankfully, most of them were fine, except for the five outlets in the living room—every single one was wired incorrectly.I fixed them all, and now I have peace of mind knowing my outlets are safe. I no longer have to worry about potential malfunctions or safety hazards.

I bought this because I already own a different GFCI tester that is frustrating to use. This yellow Sperry one works as a wall tester should - you plug it in, and it CLEARLY shows if all is OK, or else what is wrong. By clearly, I mean there is a light for "CORRECT" that lights up instantly when you plug in. You do not have to turn it on first, it does not require additional batteries of its own, like my other tester does, and the output is clear and non-confusing. This is gold compared to my other tester. Love it, worth every penny.

Inexpensive, simple, compact, and easy to use. I like that it has the status light legend printed on both sides and is shown in the reverse orientation on the bottom so if your outlet is mounted upside down you can easily determine what the status lights mean. The one issue I had, and why I marked it down by one star, is that they don’t provide instructions in the packaging. Instead they included a note that says go to their web site to download the instructions which means you have to get online and search their site to find instructions for this model tester. What really annoyed me was that the instructions make no mention of how to use the GFIC test button and if pressing it on a non-GFCI protected circuit is dangerous to me, the tester or the circuit. I had to go online to research this to give myself a warm fuzzy about how that works. So, how to use the GFCI test button…Plug in the tester and push its test button. If the power goes off, the outlet is protected by a GFCI breaker or outlet and is working. Press the reset button on the outlet or breaker to restore power. If the power doesn't go off, replace the GFCI or the outlet you are testing is not protected by a GFCI.How does the test button work and will it harm a non-GFCI circuit? When the test button is pressed a small ground fault (current flow) is created between the hot and ground conductor. If the GFCI is performing properly it notes the differential in current flow between the neutral and hot conductor and break the circuit. The ground fault current is low enough the it won’t harm or trip the circuity breaker on a non-GFCI protected circuit.

This is a must have tool for any DIY guy doing electrical work around the home. Works great and save time tracing live wires. You can regulate it to check from 14 volts DC to 600 Volts AC. The seller was fast in shipping the product and was received the same way as advertise by the seller. I have no hesitation in recommending this seller to anyone who may be thinking of purchasing this item.

I use this at work as an electrician and have found the sensitivity adjustment very useful - it will react at quite a distance with new batteries, which are lasting well, and can be set to pick up lower voltages/closer to cable to identify live conductors I generally don't trust cheap electrical testers but this one has so far proved to be very good. It has limitations in regard to clarity of the voltage it picks up, it won't tell you what the voltage is - just that there is voltage present. Otherwise - I was so impressed I bought another for a work mate ....

I do electrical work as a hobby mainly because my home needs all new wiring. Wiring is actually fun too but wanted a tool to be able to test my wiring job. Although it does not test every thing it test what I need. So far every outlet I tested says it is wired correctly.I like how the writing is on both sides because the outlets can be put with the ground up or with the ground down. Some power prefer it with the ground up some people like it with the ground down. It actually does not matter which way you put it as long as it is wired correctly. Any way that was why I choose this one because most of the other ones I was looking at only had it on one side. This also has a handy GFCI tester that I found very handy and works great.Oh on a side note. A mistake on my part and I do not blame Amazon although I am not sure how it happened but some how I ordered 3 of these instead of ordering just 1. I didn't even realize until after I started tracking the order and saw it said 3 of. I looked closer and realized I did in fact order 3 and I paid the price for 3. Not a major deal though. I will just keep them all just in case I loose one. It would not be in case one breaks though because they have a life time warranty which I guess is also a plus. It would also not be the first tool I have more then one of. I have like 3 hammers and that was because I kept loosing them. I even lost my nice ladies one that was nice and light.Speaking of ladies tools I would love to see this come in pink. Although I do not think it would sell as their are not many of us women who like this kind of stuff and like pink as well.
