This project claims to be a domed and varnished plate. The product shipped is exactly what they claim other lower quality brands offer. This is certainly NOT worth twice the price compared to others. In addition the hooks were slightly bent and very difficult to flip. I am returning this immediately.

This little gadget comes without needle or yarn, but that's ok for me - I already had some at home. I have to admit that I did not bother with the instructions (provided!), as I had watched a few YouTube videos (I recommend that). I have done two patches so far - the first one is functional but looked a bit wonky. The second one turned out much, much better as I had learned a few things while doing the first. The loom is sturdy, and does not have sharp edges that might damage the garment further (complaint in some reviews). I am looking forward to using it more; and I plan to buy the large size from the same company. Thumbs up!

The 14 hook version is shown to be yellow in the listing pics, but I received an orange one. It’s also shown to come with four rubber bands, but I only got one. None of that really messes with the functionality, except maybe the rubber band if it breaks and I don’t know if I have one that size to replace it.The darning disc is pretty nice. The top is curved with nice smooth edges. It does have red permanent marker on the bottom but it’s not a big deal. The hooks are tight enough that you can push them straight up and they’ll stay and not flop over, but they’re not so tight that they’re hard to move. All in all it’s a nice little tool.

I made "kite" patch for a friend and she was happy. I don't have too many patch-able items so I've only used it once but it was nice and looks nice and professional and decorative.

I ordered the 14 hook one, and got it very quickly. I immediately was able to mend two pairs of socks in the first couple hours of having it here in the house. I like it so much, I've now ordered the bigger one. It's very quick once you get the hang of it. The instructions aren't much, just a few photos, but if you need more help there are videos. However I did find it super easy to use. In my opinion, the supplied rubber bands, although they work just fine, will not last long in my desert climate, so I intend to get some elastic hair ties for when I wear the rubber bands out. I think that will work just fine. Anyway great product, making mending fun, turning it from a chore to a pleasure, at least for me.

Good instructions were lacking so I had to watch a few YouTube videos before I completely understood how to use this speedweve. I use it for patching small holes in clothing and sections of embroidered art. Larger sizes are available. I'm glad I paid a little more for a higher quality weaver. The domed shape of the wood base does in fact make weaving easier. There is a groove in the disk that prevents the rubberband from slipping off. The hooks that move back and forth raise the threads making it easier to move your needle over and under the floss. Yes, I recommend this speedweve.

Arrived on time and intact. Very disappointed in the product. Paid for a more expensive model for the hardwood, varnished, domed wooden disc. Instead I got a flat piece of pine. Not varnished. Could have bought the same thing for half the price. Do not recommend.

Nice heavyweights metal used so plate doesn't deform with use. Everything is nicely aligned and well engineered and constructed. The wooden stretching disk is domed which is the nicest style but another of my favorite of this type of loom isn't so not. Its easier to get a neater darn on a domed surface. The only negative is there are only two sizes available which limits use and utility darning and mending for knitwear in particular. This is worth the extra cost. I am certain this tool will last years and with it precisely milled parts is easier to use than cheaper lighter weight looms with thinner pins and metal plate. If I had access to a drill press I might with a large amount of effort be able to make something similar to this....but I doubt it.Excellent top of the line quality speedweve style darning loom. You will not regret buying this even if it costs much more than other cheaper models.

This is a durable product, and works very well. I bought a 21-hook loom with a similar appearance, but those hooks were made of much thinner wire. THESE hooks are sturdy and well-seated in the loom. They line up very well, making it easy to raise and lower the threads as needed.Don't buy this thinking that "Speed weaving" will be your reward, though. The weaving part is quick and lovely -- but the setup is a little tedious, and the finishing is even more so. All those ends to be woven in! I was tempted to leave shorter ends at the bottom of my work, but that is a recipe for VERY tedious finishing. If you want to use a lot less yarn or embroidery thread, make your repair freehand. As others have said, it is worthwhile to spend more money on a high-quality loom, and I recommend this one.

I was hoping to use this to darn multiple holes that moths have eaten in some cashmere and fine-gauge merino wool sweaters. I think this item is not meant for that application. It was hard to get the patches right on these super-stretchy materials. I tried using sport-weight wool for the patching, and I think because it is a bit fluffy, it was hard to get a clear channel to put the needle through for the weaving part. Also, even though I used a pen to mark the square where the patch should go, the patch ended up rather misshapen because the warp stretched/contracted the material around the holes. I had vision of a sweater covered in cute colorful patches, but gave up after a few tries. I did try this with non-stretchy string and on non-stretchy cotton and it seemed to work fine. Seems like it would be good for jeans or for larger gauge woolens that have smaller holes in them. Will return it and use the money to get a few more sweaters at Goodwill, and a few moth traps.
