I used this after first trying to remove 7 layers of old dry paint from a 100-year old oak door with paint remover which only removed 1 layer at a time and was super messy.This infrared gun worked SO MUCH better! It went through ALL layers at once. And it wasn't messy. Flat out, this thing is amazing. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. They sell bigger/wider ones, but I bought this one because I'm also refinishing windows and this small size is convenient for getting into corners, etc.HOWEVER... BE AWARE - I did once accidentally catch the door on fire and I also scorched the wood in 3 places. I was NOT following the directions, though. The paint was old and dry and stubborn and rather than coming back to it later like I should have, I let the heat gun sit on it for more than the max amount of time and that's when I got into trouble. If you follow the directions, you'll be fine. I only mention so folks will be careful. This is much safer than a heat gun, but it CAN catch wood on fire or scorch it if you don't follow the directions.For valuable antiques, I'd probably try paint remover instead so you don't accidentally scorch the wood. In my case, I was planning to repaint the door, so it didn't matter.

Tried lots of products. This is expensive but quickly got back to original wood in no time. Definitely use a respirator mask because heated lead based paint with make you sick in not time! Best product on market

This infrared paint remover does a great job. Much better than the old hot air gun type. Easy to use and thoroughly remove old paint in my 1903 home.

Brings all the layers of paint right off the surface clean. It would take forever to use this on a large job but it’s a great tool for detail work

Love this item. Fast shipping and works so fast to remove paint. It is light enough to not cause fatigue and doesn't make the room overly hot like other strippers do.
