In addition, Arnhem 1618 paper’s subtle grain combined with a smooth appearance allows a variety of media to take to the paper, while remaining a reliable surface for intricate detail. Arnhem 1618’s strong and highly absorbent fibers make it ideal for dry or damp printing, allowing it to accept multiple layers of ink brilliantly.

Very thick and smooth paper with no bleed through when using Akua inks. This worked great for print making and made my prints look very high quality.

I like Speedball products and have used them throughout the years - from art classes in college to today. The paper quality can only be described as luxurious, with a fantastic smooth surface but a very slight texture that tells you it is 100% cotton rag. I have used cotton based paper that tends to bleed colors a bit but this doesn't at all. This certainly feels like fine art paper and is probably best reserved for 'nicer' work rather than sketches.

The paper itself is alright, but the pad had many deformed pages and for that price I probably won't risk ordering again.

Just started using this paper today. I have not yet put it through all of its paces. I still need to see how well this paper will pull prints, calligraphy, pen and ink, etc. What I have had time to do ( the paper just arrived this past week), was to check it out with watercolors. Actually, I was testing two different papers at the same time. This paper, and a watercolor paper from India. Both claimed to be made with 100% cotton.Let me tell you: this paper from Speedball handled watercolors like a dream!! What I mean by that is that the washes I attempted were quite beautiful in how evenly and delicately they flowed on the paper. Incidentally, this paper is quite smooth. I would not call it cold pressed. At all. This paper has a hot pressed surface. Very smooth, but with that little “something”, not sure I would call it tooth, but something that is barely perceptible. I’m thoroughly enjoying my painting experience with this paper.I realize we all look for different things in our art supplies. I do feel compelled to mention that there was a little bit of buckling. It doesn’t bother me, but it might bother you. Be forewarned: if you intend on using this gorgeous paper for watercolor painting, you might want to tape it or pre stretch it if slight buckling bothers you.I will come back and update this review once I’ve been able to try pulling a print or two, try my hand at some calligraphy and or pen and ink illustration along with completing a full watercolor painting. But so far, I really like it!👍🏻

The paper feels to be of good-quality. I'm not familiar with printmaking, but I'm sure there are other ways I can use this paper. It should work fine for other wet media.

So the paper is very high quality. I do really like the quality of it, however it is not really for me and what I would use it for. I do calligraphy and let the ink properties come through. My this I use Shading, Shimmering and Sheening inks. Which transforms colors of the ink by allowing it to pool. I attached a photo of some simple swatch tests This papers sucks the ink right in. Now if doing a solid color, this would work but the paper is also very rough and has a scratchy feeling to it that also kind of transfers through the pen. I only give it 4 stars because it is not fit for my uses. Some things to mention is while it soaked ink up, it did not bleed through. It also did not feather, the paper behaved very well. The texture and scratchiness of this paper leads me to believe it would work well for pencil or crayon or chalk even.

Using for eraser art, mini print making. Perfect thickness, holds ink well. Did not bleed thru.
