I had to force unto the cold air intake system on my 2002 Ford F-250 XL pickup. You may have to use some grease to slip it over the metal pipe (elbow grease too).

it's overkill on a 1.6L NA mini cooper, but along with my muffler delete and what unnoticeable difference NGK coils and plugs make, it does even out the middle power band a lot. I built a full CAI out of sheet aluminum and 4" dryer duct (I'm surprised I got the custom airbox to fit in the stock airbox location AND had a good channel for the ducting). I won't see much extra power even if I tune it, but it does growl, gurgle and pop now, satisfying and absurd. It's a small engine, so it's still not crazy loud, so I can still drive it legally, but it is definitely louder. I was going to build a 2 piece scoop duct system around it, like AEM makes, even traded for an S hood with the scoop, but for now there's no point in doing that much extra work and adding more points of failure for zero gain unless I just do it for fun anyway.

Really like the product. Looks great. Installed it in my 2008 Dodge Charger. It was slightly larger than expected so just be sure to measure the space.

If this filter works like they say it does, that's excellent. It's $30-$35 less in cost than a comparable K&N.

Great air filter for the price, however beware of the product description. It states that the height of the air filter is 6". It is actually almost 10 inches in height. This may be the difference between keeping the item or having to return as I had to do. Otherwise it is a high quality air filter. There are indeed removable rubber rings so the inner diameter can accommodate a 3", 3.5" or 4" fitment. Also it says that the filter is pre-oiled. Upon inspection it looked dry to me. I would have kept it if it fit.

Use this on my Volvo V70R. K&N worked well but they were a little expensive and sometimes a little too oily out of the box. I never oil the filters I just use them until they're dirty and replace at this price. These don't have too much oil and clamp down easily. The included adapters make it adaptable to most pipe sizes.*If you have a pipe that doesn't fit snugly into the filter gasket, it might be pulled away from the filter causing some leaks...make sure you don't have to tighten it down super hard or you'll have this problem.*If you clamp directly to the MAF sensor, you might have the gasket separation issue also - to fix it I used gasket sealer - pretty sure this would happen with a K&N also

What a great filter! I compared both in store, and it is in all practical purposes K&N's 'clone'. It is rigid, fitment is perfect, half the price, and performs perfectly. I believe it has a 50K warranty, and the last Spectre I purchased lasted could have lasted well beyond that although I chose anyway to replace it. I have not had good luck 're-oiling/cleaning' K&N's before, as they did damage to the MAF (mass airflow sensor). Much easier to replace at 50K, and cost effective than cleaning, so why bother? I would definitely recommend any Specter filters, anytime, anyday.
