This is an OK product for the money but don’t expect to be blown away.A few months ago I bought a pretty basic, fairly traditional hot rod. The car had an Edelbrock air filter housing on it. I’m not big on pretending my car is a race car with brands plastered everywhere so I decided to sack that in favor of something more basic. I also didn’t want to invest a lot into it in case someone decided to take it while it’s parked somewhere. I decided on the basic chrome air filter housing for now until I figure out the direction for the build.Initially I bought the cheapest, most basic housing from Summit. It was probably the worst chrome I’ve ever seen on a car part so I returned it. It was truly a “you get what you pay for” situation. I hoped that by stepping up from the $20-30 range to the $50 range there’d be a noticeable increase in quality. To be fair, this chrome was decent- definitely better than the Summit item. But it still isn’t a mirror-like chrome finish I’d want on a car that’s not running a hood. It’s ok, but not great. For the money I’d say it was so-so. On a car with a hood and no direct sunlight I’d have probably called it good enough. For this car though I thought it wasn’t quite up to par and returned it.

Too bad the neck wasn't 1/4 in longer because like many others have said that a spacer is needed to clear the top of an Edelbrock carb.

1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 350. The chrome didn’t do it for me. After painting it to match it Looks and fits better than I expected.

Got this new filter installed it, to my surprise after reading all the good reviews, it doesn’t fit a factory quadrajet Carb. The base being a “drop base” or possibly the neck height, doesn’t clear the lever for the pump, also interferes with a easier portion of the passenger rear side of the carb, had to bend slightly so I didn’t have to cut the stud, but all was for nothing. Facing defeat, no I have to buy the cleaner rise rings to raise it up to clear. Who ever said it fit their factory 4 barrel, must not have been very observant. THIS SHOULD BE STATED IN THE AD THAT IT DOES NOT FIT FACTORY GM QUADRAJET CARBS WITH OUT RISER RINGS IN PLACE The filter looks good and has a good solid base not flimsy.

It needed a spacer to clear linkages and stuff on a 2nd gen Dodge Ram, which was my fault for not looking into how much of a drop I needed on the base. Looks good though, and was great for the price.

For the price, this is an excellent air cleaner cover and lid. The chrome is thick and good quality. Good for any classic car project
