After having a new muffler installed, the choice of finding a cone filter seemed reasonable. Once secure, the filter produces a sound unlike that of my stock air box. It's not as obvious as a turbo however it's more pleasant than the last few drops of a soft drink through a straw. This all occurs around 3,000 RPM on my naturally aspirated vehicle. On the smooth and level surfaces of the expressway, the filter captured my heart. Unfortunately, due to my poor fitments, the drawbacks of removing my stock components became alarmingly clear.Stop and go traffic or severe dips below an underpass were enough to test my couplings. They failed and as a result, my CVT vehicle stalled like a manual. It felt awkward (and a bit embarrassing). Fortunately, my stock intake was in my trunk. However, I decided to save some time by securing the loose connections. The entire experience taught me that without a sealed intake, an engine is less likely to operate sufficiently. Therefore, I can only recommend this product to owners of vehicles that require cone filters. Most of these vehicles are muscle cars. As for my vehicle that normally idles at 600 RPM, the filter is unnecessary.Despite my 2 out of 5 rating, the filter is more attractive in person than it is on screen. In fact, it's charm alone is what allowed me to dedicate so much of my time under the hood of my car. The problem with this product lies in its incompatibility with standard OEM equipment. If I had purchased a cold air intake by a particular high flow automotive filter company [wink, wink] then looks and function may have followed. On the other hand, the money I spent on 3 in. to 2.5 in. couplings and other components doesn't exceed the total cost of an aftermarket intake. Despite this positive, don't remove your stock air box and fit a cone filter to your throttle body. I guarantee that you will only encounter obstacles like where your Mass Airflow Sensor will go.Included with this review is a photo of my intake setup after removing the standard components. There's at least four critical points where air leaks are possible. For those of you determined to purchase a cone filter, please find a solid tubular device to serve as your intake that fits both your existing throttle body and your new filter.

Looks well made, can't see through the gauze material... but I think it might not flow enough for big engines. I'm no racer but the cross-sectional area of the inlet (hard to describe, but because of the inverted cone part of the filter it sorta chokes itself off?) - looks like it results in a bottleneck smaller than the 3" diameter outlet. Probably more than enough for 4 and 6cyl enigines but might be restrictive on big v8's.
