It's very well made in an odd sorta way but the blade is dull and must be sharpened before use, meaning you must have a fine grinder to sharpen the blade which I do not have.

This product came quick and is easy to adjust the cut depth. Operates smoothly and cuts clean, fits comfortablyin my hand. I would recommend this product.

The information says that the blade is ground at a 25 degree angle and all you need to do is hone it to a 30 degree angle. That may be okay if the blade did not have several major divots in it, bad enough that I had to regrind the blade to the 25 degree angle before I was able to hone it at the 30 degree angle. Quality control seems to be lacking, even a novice can grind a blade without major divots.

Get your flat surface(shelf?) and 120 grit ready, because you will have to remove a lot of material to correct the poor factory quality control and get this flat. But once you do, it's a great tool for the price. Unlike what some of the other commenters seem to insist, it's completely possible with patience and determination. I spent about an hour or two getting this plane from the box into the state shown in my pictures. I think what the others were doing wrong was not starting on a low enough grit, because it would take forever to flatten this on a stone. I used 120 - 400 - 600 - 1000 - 1200 and stropped the blade, and it worked like a treat. The plane now shaves straight through walnut end grain, so I'm happy; that's honestly more than I expected to get. One note is that the logo is actually a sticker. I thought it was stamped or engraved but it fell right off, and now it looks cleaner without the logo.

Overall, I really like this plane, the size, the form factor, the function everything seems to work really well the iron quality, however chips really easily. I would rather pay 10 or 15 more dollars just to get a little higher quality iron. Especially because after I spend 20 minutes getting it all dialed in and sharpened only to have it chipped right after that.

This is a neat little block plane that never gets completely put away. Its one of those tools that remains handy. It’s an entry level tool that doesn’t cost much and does a decent job on normal projects. I have to think about costs and yes, I have better, more expensive planes but it can be adjusted to do good work and is generally available on my table or bench for the kind of stuff that I do.

The price is reasonable, and the plane can be a good investment, if you are willing to put in a lot of effort to make it work. The sole of the plane I bought was not flat at all. I spent hours sanding the sole to get it flat. I needed to sand the sides of the adjustable mouth plate, since it was binding. Neither side of the plane blade was flat, so that took a lot of sanding before I could even sharpen it. It took a while to sharpen the blade since it looks as if they used some sort of small diameter cutting wheel to cut the bevel, as there is a definite concavity within the bevel. I had to oil everything since all of the controls on it where very stiff. I had to take a file to the mouth of the plane to smooth it out. I also had to sand the bed of the plane since it was roughly machined. I also had to sand the lever cap so it could set flush on the blade and apply even pressure. Once all of that was done, the plane has been working very well, except for a little too much play or backlash on the blade adjustment system that makes precise adjustments a little difficult.

I bought this planer to shim down the door as it was rubbing too tightly against the frame. This made it hard to open the door. I thought this planer wouldn't work well but I was amazed at how well this little tool just shaved off the wood in no time at all. Lots of adjustments and this tool packs some weight for such a small thing. It is not some flimsy tool either. It really works top notch. Very pleased with the planer and purchase.
