The taps provided with the insert kit is only for the big inserts, pointless not to have both size taps!

Had spark plug stripped, retapped with this. Kit Is missing and extension to allow to retap anything below few inches. Had to use one of mine and that wasn’t fun. But worked

Although I haven’t had an occasion to use this kit yet, I have a couple of heads I’ll be working on this summer and although I’ve exclusively used Helicoils in the past , I’m going to give this system a try. The quality and simplicity makes sense to me and using a spark plug to run the new thread insert seems like it will be easier than using the Helicoil installation tool. Use the usual precautions: drill straight while vacuuming cuttings; take your time and don’t force the tap and try your best to keep stuff out of the cylinder. Be sure to apply anti seize to the plug and the provided thread locker to the insert before screwing it into the head. Should be a permanent repair. Good system, great price

This looks like it will be a very nice kit to add to my tool collection. I have not needed to use this set just yet, but I will be super glad I have it when the time comes. The storage case is also made well so it should be a good safe way to store them. I will update if needed after I use this set.

If you use this on an assembled engine be sure to use a strong vacuum to suck out all the shavings from drilling and taping. You can use a magnet if iron heads but that won't work with aluminum. Save yourself from going through this again and use antiseize compound on your spark plug treads.Be sure to go slowly and make sure everything is threading in straight. Use machine oil as you drill and tap. Go slowly wth tap turn in a few tImes and turn back out. This way you remove some of the shavings and you don't risk breaking your tap.
