First one - broken in half. Second one - broken in half. Manufacturer's packaging is insufficient. They don't put it in their own box and then Amazon packs it with a small amount of paper. But TBH, I doubt it was in one piece when Amazon packed it given how bad the manufacturer's packaging was. These are very fragile instruments. Too bad. Really needed this urgently. Not gonna try for a 3rd time charm.

The hydro works when I can get an intact one. They are very thin glass and super fragile. I have gotten 2 broken ones back to back and they dont want to send a second replacement. They need to increase the packaging/bubble wrap and put them in more appropriately sized boxes so they dont bounce around in the box.

All I know is we didn't need the second one until now and discovered it was broken AFTER the return window had already closed. Granted it was our fault for not opening the second one until today but we didn't need it until today :( Lesson learned.

I received my sugar hydrometer the other day and just opened the box. Glass fell out everywhere!!! Instantly, I knew this wasn't going to be good! Now, I can't finish helping my daughter with her Science Fair Project!!! I am extremely upset. I paid $35.00 dollars for a broken device and now I have to endure the hassle of returning it and getting a refund. Worst of all, I don't know how I'm going to get the data to finish the project! Thanks for ruining what could have been an A for my 8th grader on her project. Do not buy!!! Buyer Beware!!!

I like Kombucha, therefore, I make kombucha. I wanted a means to provide the best tasting and healthiest product that I could both quantify and qualify accurately and efficiently. The Durac hydrometer is an excellent tool to check for the specific gravity in all phases of making kombucha. The results are straight forward; quick and simple. So now with the hydrometer and the SEOH Cylinder, coupled with the a PH tester I know the exact amount of acidity and sugar content of my favorite beverage, with repeatability each time. From boiling water to completion of the 2nd fermentation.

Bought this for a Science Fair project on how much sugar is on soda. Wonderfully accurate and easy to use and makes a good example of using the right tool / instrument to get results. I would suggest you get a hydrometer cylinder as well as the hydrometer is unable to "measure" is it cannot float. There was a very useful youtube video on this as well. Just search hydrometer. Makes a great science experiment with a healthy message
