Black rubber bushing provides sound deadening effect. When handle is lifted bushing diameter decreases allowing it to pass through the hole in the frame to unlatch door.

I broke one of the of the cam-lock tabs on my American Standard (Trane) air handler filter door This did the trick. The OEM part was like $80.00 (door and lock tabs). It took a bit of trial and error but in the end they work perfectly.

Bought this because one of the swell latches on our Trane HVAC unit filter doors broke. The only replacement that i could fine was for a kit that I think came with a new filter door and it was like $150 online or $90 from my HVAC dealer. I took out my digital calipers to measure the good part and wasn't really sure it was the same. The black plastic rectangular piece matched the dimensions of what i had, but the swell part didn't seem to be identical. I took a chance and when i tried it out, it worked. I wish it was a little cheaper, but $14-15 compared to $90 is fair enough. I wish i could get a few more, but at a discount in case the other one breaks. This one lasted about 10 years though. Hopefully if anyone else searches for a Trane filter door swell latch, it will lead them here so that they know the part number that will work for them too and they won't have to do so much research.
