These are so much easier than a paper towel or leaving the lid open

I discovered unless dehydrated starter is dried AND turned into powder it won’t ever dissolve.Because like yeast you cannot use water that’s too warm without killing it.I tried for days to try to dissolve this.It was dry as a bone.Hard lesson

Great price works perfectly. It would've cost me more to make.

These linen covers are designed to fit over the tops of jars, allowing for airflow in and out of the jars. They work well with Ball mason jars (pint, quart, and half-gallon sizes). They are washable, reusable, and advertised for sourdough, but I feel they will work for fermentation projects like sauerkraut and kimchi, too. The linen material feels thick, though it had quite a few stray fibers. The elastic is sturdy, but I’m not fully satisfied with the overall construction. While these covers are functional, I prefer using plastic shower caps for my jars. The plastic is also reusable but feels more reliable and better suits my needs.

Recently returned from camping having borrowed our son’s blue rectangular water container. It reminds me of a huge Lego. I rinsed it out and am placing it on the camping gear rack to store. Purchased this product to place over the mouth of the unit to let it breathe but so that no itty bitties crawl or fly in to it.
