As it is intended for mastectomy surgeries, Sophia has no cups. In case of a single breast surgery, the unique 4-way stretch material will adapt and support a healthy breast due to the superior expansion capability. This feature eliminates the need to stock both a left cup, right cup and no cup bra, as Sophia offers all 3 models in one bra. The bottom of the fabric rolls up under into my suture line and even going based on the size chart I’d recommend going up. This digs into your armpits which is not comfortable after having breast work done. Ease of use is simple but sizing is difficult.

I researched a few bras and decided on this one because of the reviews. I went from a 38 DD/DDD to around a C (not sure yet). I wanted to order a Large but decided on XL based on the reviews and I'm glad I did. At first, the bra was very restrictive and tight, I wasn't sure id be able to wear it but after a few hours of wearing it, it loosened up a bit. I wish it had a strap from under, it does curl a little so I have to pull down when I get up. It provides alot of support and the material just feels good.

The Velcro straps that sit on top of the shoulder and finish at the front, don’t sit flat. They stick out too much and can be seen from my top when dressed. Otherwise its a nice bra.

Wow, this compression bra is working well for me. I had a surgery almost two weeks ago. I bought and wore a "fancy" compression bra from a local boutique until such time that the bra that I ordered from Amazon arrived. Unlike the "fancy" bra, the bra from Amazon does not have any stitching along the underarm area, yipeeee! For that reason, this bra compresses without cutting off circulation. I've already told my surgeon that I recommend this bra. THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THOUGHT INTO THE BRA DESIGN. 😊

Purchased after double mastectomy with pre-pectoral tissue expanders placed at time of surgery. Was told I needed some sort of compression but had hard time locally finding zip front sports bras without molded cups and/or underwire. This came up as an option and the design is similar to the post-surgical bra I was given after lumpectomy two years ago BUT:1. This fabric is so much nicer. Its soft like a t-shirt, but thicker.2. This has a lot more compression. Some have said it's too small but that doesn't totally describe the fit.The version I had from lumpectomy was a size large and was very snug when I woke up from surgery but not snug at all few weeks later when swelling went down. After reading the reviews here I decided to go up two sizes to accommodate the "runs small" aspect and the fact that the expanders would be getting filled and become very firm.I'm halfway through my fills and this bra is fantastic with a few caveats = the straps were too long to begin with but to be expected as I went up two sizes when I ordered. After this week's fill the straps are better and by the time the fills are finished I'm assuming they'll be pulled tight and I can loosen them by attached the velcro higher or lower to the front if needed. Also, the band around the bottom is comfortable and doesn't roll up on me when wearing but it does leave a bruised looking red mark in the middle. Doesn't hurt and goes away within ten minutes or so.The nurse at my last fill was impressed with the fit and material. When I have appts I just undo the velcro straps and pull the bra down around my waist instead of unzipping then unhooking — faster and easier.Only other tip is to make sure you hook the front before trying to zip it up.

I needed this for a recent surgery. This is the only bra I found with compression which is very soft, seamless, and with enough compression for my needs. I have to wear this 24/7 for 6-8 weeks. You better believe, if I have to wear something for that length of time, it will have to meet ALL of that criteria. I bought the other brands of bras listed next to these, and they were NOT comfortable and none had even or enough compression. There was no way I could wear those round the clock. Yes, it's expensive, but if you REALLY need this, you will find it to be totally worth the cost. I ended up buying three to rotate for washing. Because I have to wear them 24/7 having just two was causing me to make sure one was in the wash every day while I wore the other one. Normally, I don't wash my bras that often, but this IS a vest so oils from your back and any odor from the underarm will become part of the bra that day because the sides do come up quite high under the arm. This may seem like something you don't want, but this is actually one of the main reasons why this bra/vest was better for me than the other compression brands advertised especially once you are able to sleep on your side after the approved time has passed from the surgery date. I think it would be terrible to FINALLY given approval to sleep on your side (esp. if you are a side sleeper normally) from your surgeon, only to not really be able to because the sorry bra you bought to save money wont' let you because it is too painful or uncomfortable. When you buy a bra that doesn't keep your incision areas firmly bound in place, you will know of that which I speak. Trust me.Now about sizing, it can be difficult at first especially if after your surgery you will lose or gain volume. Nevertheless, the compression should be comfortable enough that you are able to breathe easily. The chart the company gives IS accurate though. You have to remember it is for compression and after a surgery you could have some swelling, so it may feel a little more "pressed" than what you are used to with a standard sports bra. Still, the sizing chart did turn out to be correct for me. To be on the safe side I ordered two sizes and then sent the one back that didn't quite fit like I needed it to after the surgery took place and I could tell for sure what I needed. Another plus about this bra is no matter where your incisions are located, this bra is seamless and is not going to hurt you. I do tuck some small cotton-like gauze pads in some areas just to prevent any agitation whatsoever due to lots of body movement--- plus because my steri-strips fell off sooner than I was expecting the incision area is a little raw. The bra holds the gauze in place easily and comfortably. I truly am not joking. I read all the other reviews and ordered so many of the other bras and could seriously NOT see what everybody thought was so great. I was rushing to get them off and send them back. (Maybe it depends on the kind of surgery you're having as to whether you can get by with the cheaper bra options?) Yeah, I was hoping to save some money, too, so bought a few of those other bras by other makers, but bottom line, I had to have comfort and compression above all else. Honestly, thinking back to the numerous bras I tried, whether they be touted specifically for post op or just high impact sports bras, I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found this---wear an ace bandage over a silk scarf wrapped around my chest/ rib cage? Yes, I've tried that. You get groove lines from the seams of the scarf AND you have to wear the ace bandage very tight for it to truly compress which makes it very, very difficult to breathe. If you loosen the compression to breathe, you're not getting the compression you truly need. See? I really have tried it all. If the price is such that you could only purchase one, I would suggest wearing your cheaper alternative only while this one is being washed. You can hand wash or put this in a machine. You can drip dry or put in dryer--just don't pick a heating setting that is too high (if your machine offers that). If your machine does not allow heat settings, I would dry half the time set, and the let it air dry the rest of the way. It does take a while to totally dry though because this is not a thin bralette you have here. Oh, and you'll definitely appreciate being able to sleep in this vest because again, it's soft, seamless and so comfortable.(FYI--this review is for the size XL. I bought 1 black and 2 white. I ended up sending the Large back.)
