Initially, it worked for about a day and I was able to make/create a CD. Since then. it records songs, but it can't finalize cds so you really can't record or make cds with this machine.I reached out to the buyer and told them i wanted to return it, but i got no response. And amazon doesn't really care what they sell you as long as they get their pound of flesh.

I have owned and enjoyed many of these Sony RCD-W500C machines despite their tendency to develop various problems with use. I had high hopes for this supposedly reconditioned machine (since the device is no longer in production). My hopes were dashed the moment I set it up and tried to play a CD. From the first attempt the disc failed to play without skipping, aborting play in the middle of a track, skipping from song to song in the wrong order, etc. I had to return it without even testing its other functions. What good is a CD player that can't play a CD? I was issued a full refund, however.

Button broke off of the front( discovered it was inside of the machine, you could hear it rattling inside). Push the play button & it would light up for a few seconds( sometimes) but would not play. Returned

The item had not been refurbished. The recording portion of the recorder did not work at all.

I bought this model new years ago and it never worked. The tray opened once and closed. I never got around to returning it, but, will soon send it back to Sony. Good luck if you purchase.

The cd recorder didnot work and would not even accept the correct blank cd terrible.
