I purchased this Sony charger as a replacement for a less expensive one. The less expensive was poorly made and ended up slowing the charging time and not working at all. No problems now.

First off, this OEM charger works well and charges pretty quick. If you are shooting with anything that uses this battery, then my guess if you will need at least a couple batteries to shoot all day. While it is nice that you can charge a battery in the camera, it is less than ideal when you have more than one battery.I do think that (like most OEM stuff) it is overpriced. It is unbelievable that you pay over $1k for a camera and it doesn't come with a charger.

This compact charger for Sony NP-FW50 batteries charges quickly and shows you the progress on LEDs. The Amazon product images shows a separate cord, which this charger does not include nor use. Instead, the charger has flip-out US-style prongs.

Carregador original Sony. Deveria acompanhar a câmera já que é um item essencial e carregar direto na câmera não é o ideal.O carregador é bom e possui os leds indicativos de carga, porém demora bastante para dar a carga completa e é limitado a carregar uma bateria por vez.

This charger is manufactured by Sony. This charger has two small spring-loaded tabs at the bottom of the charge area to maintain a snug, solid, fit without the need of force. I would recommend this unit. This Sony charger also has additional features such as flip-out outlet prongs for a compact package, incremental status light indicators, and excellent build quality that make it worth the price.

Yes, the make a million knock-off chargers for the FW50 batteries and I even own a couple. So why did I buy this? I decided to start using OEM batteries AND I wanted a charger with a charge-level indicator. Not that you can't charge OEM batteries with a knock-off charger but I decided to just go all-in with the OEM stuff when it comes to the power suppies. It is solidly built, charges the batteries as fast (maybe a little faster?) than off-brand chargers.Switching to OEM batteries made a big difference, just FYI. And you can find them on E-bay for much cheaper than the camera store (or Amazon)

Superb. Only buy the Sony charger for the relatively "little-more" money you pay for this charger - now, it's often on sale. The technology is better as are the Sony batteries which are spec'd to your Sony gear. Has better charge time than the Wasabi, plus, 2 batteries it came with. Now, the Wasabi charger is physically "popping" the batteries out the charger in a vertical receptacle - they won't seat properly to enable them to charge - this, after only about 2-3 months of very light use. This Sony charger is slightly larger than the batteries themselves, which are small. I carry two of these chargers in kit since they take up so little room. Quality build. One yellow/orange LED when battery is first plugged in, then, green, fully charged. Simple and a fairly fast charge. A solid purchase from a solid manufacturer and dealer. Highly recommend.

This is the charger that Sony should have included with the new a7 and a7r. Very straightforward and good at what it does, with two small things you should be aware of. Firstly, the positive are the progress lights. I hate chargers that only show a single red and green LED. I love chargers that show me how much it is charged and how much charging remains to be done, so kudos to Sony for including three LEDs that show progress. However… reading the manual, I come to find out that after the progress lights are all lit and the "charging" LED has turned off… the battery is NOT fully charged. For a truly FULLY charged battery, you are supposed to leave the battery in the charger for another hour! So, there is a secret, bonus charging level that you only find out about if you read the manual. I have no idea of the final ten percent of charging will make much difference in the battery life, but I find it odd that they would design the charger to behave as if it is finished charging when its not.My only other quibble is that there is no car charging cord, only an outlet plug. Not a huge deal, but it doesn't hurt to have options, especially considering how short lived these batteries are.All in all, it does what its supposed to do, but it doesn't do it all that quickly (220 minutes from dead battery to sort-of, kind-of fully charged, and an additional 60 minutes to be FULLY-fully charged). The design is compact and travel friendly (the plug folds into the body of the charger). All in all, its not bad, but not the super slick, well thought out, and super fast charger I had hoped for. There are cheaper chargers here on Amazon that charge faster, but the one I purchased (Maximal Power FC500) has little plastic "wings" that hold the battery that are just waiting to snap off, and no progress lights. There are always tradeoffs!
