Sonos One blends great sound with Amazon Alexa, the easy-to-use voice service, for hands-free control of your music and more. Use your voice to play songs while you cook. Tell Alexa to turn the volume up while you’re in the shower. You can even request your favorite lullaby when you’re tucking the kids in.
Sonos One connects with Amazon Alexa easily over Wi-Fi. Just set up the speaker, select the Sonos skill in the Amazon Alexa app, and you’re all set to play music, get news and answers, manage your smart devices, and enjoy everything else Alexa does using nothing but your Sonos One.
Since Alexa responds to any voice, anyone in your home can take charge of the music. Kids can call out their favorite sing-alongs. Friends can skip or replay tracks and adjust audio settings, no app required. Party guests can request their favorite songs in real-time. No matter who says it, Sonos plays it.

Adds great surround sound with deep bass. Must for audiophiles. Bit costly though. Overall, very happy with the product.

I originally was looking for a bluetooth battery alexa voice speaker. I hoped to replace a couple of speakers with this Alexa voice speaker. As I read some reviews, and I received my speaker, there was no battery or bluetooth! What should I do? It is convenient to operate a speaker from anywhere without needing to find a plug when out and about. I’ve heard good things about Sonos but thought they were high end. Since this sonos 1 black was a newer model, I decided to give it a try. I happen to be totally blind. The Sonos app works nicely on IOS with Boiceover. It took a few tries to get the sonos to go online so I could optimize it to the room I hoped to use. I told it more than once, I could see the orange light. It was the third or fourth try, It went online. Alexa set up right away. Had to get use to the song and dance for optimizing the Sonos to a room. I wasn’t waving enough or walking and swinging the IPhone enough! It finally said I needed to remove my IPhone case which is an otterbox case. I found where it said I wasn’t using a case and the speaker came to life. It had some nice bass but I wasn’t sure I was going to keep it! My wife and a friend were somewhat impressed with my initial setup but we weren’t sure about whether it was worth keeping or not! Sometimes the Amazon description is lacking! I then found where to set the bass and treble. Wow! It came to life! My wife said she could find a use for the speaker if I didn’t wish to keep it! Yes! There is no stereo by itself either. Should I keep the Sonos 1 black, may purchase another to hear stereo and find out about other features. I have connected accuradio, radio pup and another music service and this is incredible! I’m not impressed with the touch sensitive controls at the top. Some sound when touched but it is hard to figure out those controls which stop and start the music. One should have the dot or echo of some sort if one wishes to take advantage of all that Alexa has to offer. Being able to place a phone call or having an intercalm through the house are nice features. Alexa is more responsive on a dot or echo than she is on the Sonos but the Sonos isn’t all that bad in my opinion. Some youtube people think the Sonos may support Siri or Google Assistant in addition to Alexa. This would be useful! For me, the jury is still out but this is an impressive speaker. It may not be for everyone, but it is worth your consideration. I may write another review should I keep this speaker and purchase an addition Sonos 1 black. I couldn’t change the wake word. I would have changed it to Amazon on the Sonos 1 black. This would reduce conflict with my Echo Devices. I’m not getting rid of them! The Sonos Play had buttons on the top but no Alexa. I wanted the Alexa voice. It helps me in the operation of this speaker. You may hear more from me in the future should I keep the Sonos 1 speaker. I was surprised!

The Good▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬1. Completely Best Smart Whole Home Speaker we've ever tested!2. Sound quality & superior base! Completely beats the competition on a price per quality increase; plus more features as well3. Built in Amazon Alexa for controlling next songs, smart home, weather, skills and more. Included with this unit is the support of Alexa ESP which in a home with more than one echo only the closed one to you will respond.4. Has touch sensitive buttons on top for play/pause, volume up and volume down which are a joy to press from a UX perspective5. Has a remarkably superior microphone which picks up your voice just as good as the offical amazon echo devices. Compared to other 3rd party alexa devices this is the best microphone in a 3rd party alexa device. You never know how much you need this until you have a device that has a poor Mic!6. Sleak, beautiful & stylish from head to toe; packaging, main unit & also accessories.7. Whole home streaming audio experience (chain multiple sonos together to play same or different songs in different rooms/floors)8. Added Support of your favourite platforms like amazon music, Spotify, Pandora, iheartradio, DLNA UPNP local home Media servers (all your computers mp3's/wav/aac/etc), flac lossless audio.9. As of July 15th 2018 they just added Apple ios Airplay 2 functionality support with even more features announced on the way10. Has both wifi and Ethernet connections and 1st & 3rd party mounting accessory compatibilityThe Bad▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬1. When music is playing loud, the microphone to use alexa has a hard time hearing you. While this is an issue it may be very tough to solve this.2. No support for typical copper wire (red/black) to hook up to your reciever for home theatre support. You have to buy their additional add on unit which still won't let you completely doing things like 5.2, 7.2, 9.2, 11.2, 13.2, atmos or dts:X audio receiver configurations. This main draw back is what would take this review from 5/5 to 6/5.The Bottom Line▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬If you love music now you will even more. This is the only smart speaker you'll ever need to enjoy the most incredible beautiful musical experiences. There is nothing better, nore will there be from a competitive company for an extremely long time. This is a fantastic device, you're buy top quality. Your ears, friends and family with enjoy this for the indefinite future to come! YES PLEASE!!!!!

Took a chance and ordered a Sonos One Open Box from another Big Box retailer. The return policy and full warranty just as if I were to be buying new was reassuring. Free shipping was included. Package was shipped in a well packaged box. Opening the Sonos one box, all was there including the cloth cover the speaker originally came with. Speaker was mint with no defects.Connecting and setting up was a breeze as I watched many YouTube tutorials beforehand. Highly recommend doing that as Alexa integration can trip you up if you don't do it correctly. I purchased the Sonos One exclusively for listening to music tho. We set this speaker up in our Kitchen. Shortly after set up, and one system update, I found Alexa to be quite useful and handy, didn't think I would. Surprisingly, my low tech wife really liked it as we have a Premium Spotify account and voice commands to play songs works fantastically. Very handy while working in the Kitchen.A week later I bought another Sonos One Open Box. Same experience except this time the speaker was missing the cloth cover but was instead surrounded with packing paper. This time I hooked this one via Ethernet at the back of the speaker directly to my router creating a dedicated WiFi connection for my Sonos One's called "Sonos Mesh". We have not experienced any disruptions with playing music and the volume adjustment was very responsive. This was also the case with just regular WiFi. I Enabled “Sonos Mesh” for good measure. Also, with a few taps of the Sonos app on my iPad I paired the 2 speakers for stereo sound.A few days later I bought a Open Box Sonos Beam sound bar for our Living Room TV. Now we have music in our Kitchen, Den and Living room in our small 1000 SF Town House. Sound Bar works with Alexa as well and all my Sonos speakers have Apple's Air Play 2 capability! Sonos Beam makes a fantastic first time Home Theatre with a small/medium Living Room. Very pleased with Sonos and the Open Boxes.

I am a 70 year old struggling to keep up with technology because, well it's important. Like many my ability to check out new tech with the systems administrator or a Millennial colleague came to an abrupt end along with my final paycheck. Since I think it's important that you know the perspective with which a review is written let me briefly tell you what this Sonos One was meant to replace. Our basic music needs were being met by a 10 year old Sony "shelf system"; a radio tuned only to the local classical music station with a CD player that no longer worked. We have access to Amazon music and recently bought a little Bluetooth speaker that worked very nicely. The downside here is that my wife has no notion of how to use the app to make Amazon music work. We have Sirius XM in the car, love the variety and often wished we could get that at home.Based on the specs and reviews it looked like Sonos One had the potential to be our new best music friend.Out of the box the set up was VERY easy. I dread the day when I buy a new piece of tech and have no clue how to make it work. That was not a problem for this guy. Download the app and follow the simple steps. The only exception here is in a tuning process that involves waving your iPhone while you walk around the room. It kept failing, telling me I was making too much noise. My wife actually has this same complaint and, as with my marriage the app eventually suggested we just move on.The Sonos app connected seamlessly with Amazon Music. We had discovered that Sirius XM now offered an app based streaming version of their service which also connected easily with a little switching back and forth between the apps. And the biggest bonus, our local classical music station is among the many radio stations that can be added. The sound is spectacular. Keep that perspective thing in mind. We are obviously not audiophiles but to our aging ears the Sonos is a huge upgrade over what we had and fills our room with deep, rich sound. The Alexa thing was our biggest surprise as both wife and I were skeptical and had put Alexa in the broad category of "things we will never have."Alexa's default play for us will be something from Amazon Music. The more specific your request the better. There's a bit of learning curve in finding what gets Alexa's motor running. For example, after a number of fails we looked at the app and noticed that our local classical music station was titled Classical Public Radio. That worked and now my wife can get her old friend playing at 6am without using any apps. In the interest of fairness I must say that Alexa does not seem to recognize Sirius XM and even told me it was not installed. Of course all of the music can be accessed without problem on the app.I have asked Alexa the time; asked her to set an alarm and to tell me a joke. I even told her I loved her. "That's sweet" was her response. I've read here that the Alexa function is not great on the Sonos, but again that depends on your needs and perspective. The Sonos One with Alexa gets the Double Senior Discount Seal of Approval from this household.
