I am surprised on the quality and ease to put the guitar together. It was nice to have another bridge so to lower the action. Sound is nice, for the price. Nice to have to take to jams.

Wow! Thoroughly impressed! Beautiful little guitar with a good sound and with an electric pick as well. It was easy to re-attach the neck. Nice action, good sound. Not like my Martin D28, but heck way better than My Martin Travel Guitar in sound and projection. Almost in perfect tune right out of the box with minor tweaks on the low E and A otherwise in tune , amazing.Well done! Really happy. I will be taking it overseas soon and it can be a carry on. Whoo Hoo!

I travel a lot, but I found it difficult to travel with a guitar. I love playing guitar, but the biggest issue was taking one of my prized guitars with me. I found one guitar that came with an indestructible guitar case by off chance I would have to check it in. Most if the time, I could put it in the overhead or there was a coat compartment that I could tuck it in. Some airlines are better at accommodating musicians with an instrument. It worked for a while, but I was finding the guitar with case were too heavy. I found Journey instruments. I had never heard of them before. I took a chance. My back was killing me too. I was desperate so I bought the acoustic version. It fit my budget. I started traveling with this guitar. It is light to carry as a back pack. I don’t have a problem putting it in the overhead or under the seat. It’s great! As far as playability, It is a fine instrument. I wasn’t expecting a great sound, but to my surprise, the acoustic sound is incredible. The construction and finish is nice and it seems to hold up very well with the bumping and jostling of travel. It still looks great after a year of travel. What I particularly like are the locking tuning keys. I didn’t expect with this guitar. Overall, I’m pleased with my purchase.

Have travelled all over the world with a Washburn Rover, but was worried about an upcoiming Asian trip with lots of connections, small planes etc. So I bought one of these, the most basic model, and I've been playing it everyday and truly enjoying its sound and feel. Worth it.

I have been looking on and off for years for a travel ACOUSTIC guitar that I could fly with easily. Not necessarily to perform with, but to maintain my ability to practice when away from my home guitar for extended periods. This guitar absolutely fits the bill for that need. It's not overly expensive, it packs in an overhead with no space concerns regardless of the plane size and most importantly, plays like a TRADITIONAL acoustic guitar. The setup and packing is super easy, the playability is very nice, and the sound isn't as good as my home higher quality guitar, but definitely not offending. (And the mid-range is actually exceptionally good.) This model has a standard scale with the 12th fret fully reachable, comes with a pickup if you did want to plug in and get an improved tone, and a slightly smaller body that is quite comfortable even for me (I'm tall). The beveled body definitely contributes to that. I play primarily fingerstyle guitar so the alternate lower bridge works quite well thought I may shave just a smidge off. Neck quality is quite good, on the wider sided and a little thicker than some, but nothing that impacts playability. Once snapped together the guitar holds it's tune quite well due to the quality tuners. Aesthetically it's quite good and comes in whatever wood stain you would like. I'm and engineer and the carry case and packing is very cool. If you are considering the Journey Puddle Hopper version I also tried that out but ended up returning it. It is even more travel friendly due to the smaller size and will fit underneath the seat, but it comes with a sacrifice in a shorter scale length and a big impact on sound quality. Still, if size is key and you don't play much lower in the neck it's still a good option. I decided to trade the small difference in size for better playability and sound. Sorry for the long review, but I wanted to provide a bit more info for the true guitarist out there that may have been on the same search as me. Good luck!

Excellent travel guitar. Flew to Florida and took it as my carry-on. Had a two and a half hour wait so just played music at the airport. It fits on my tour pack for my motorcycle. The back pack even fits me (6’4” 315 lbs).It is a 3/4 guitar, so a little smaller and due to the steel plate in the neck it’s not balanced (neck heavy). I got a snark, capo and strap to go with it and it fits nicely in the smaller pocket on the case. The tone and sound is better than I imagined. It’s not comparable to full size acoustics but perfect for sitting around the campfire, on the beach or anywhere that you can’t take your regular acoustic. I bought the electric/acoustic model but would have to change all my tone settings if I used it at a gig.Once I’ve snapped the neck in place, I usually have to tune it twice, but then stays in tune pretty well. I haven’t lowered the action yet but I will in the near future. It’s a fun little guitar to play and takes up no more room than a book bag. It is pricey for a guitar I don’t use to play out, but if you’re like me and like to be able to play on a trip, it’s well worth it.Update- It’s been over 2 1/2 years since I got this guitar. I have taken it on flights, family vacations and cross country on my motorcycle. It still is a fun guitar to play and its pack ability is well worth the money. I’ve pulled up to parks and riverfronts, pulled out this guitar and played till I was ready to ride again. This guitar is still going strong.
