all that matters is the wire is magnetic. brass is not magnetic. so this will scratch your soldering tip till its ruined. that wont take long

Works fine for tip cleaning. The wool that comes with it is kinda thin and flimsy. If you touch the outside of this with a hot iron it will take the coating off. (see pics) The bottom does come off. Overall gets the job done.
