Easy to do the soil test. The company is there as well. Price is good.A minor issue with the shipment. Post office said the address on the provided envelope has an issue so it took longer time to there. I took roughly 2 weeks from mailing out to getting the result online. Not a big deal to me because it said 7-10 business days already.

I have been using this soil test for years and find it very useful. Everyone including the local lawncare professionals say that I have the nicest lawn in town and ask for my secret. I work very hard trying to keep my lawn the best in town. I follow law care guys on YouTube, I go to various Midwest University ag department web sights, I read books on the subject and try recommended processes to improve my lawn, at least to keep it the best in town. Some things work around here some don't. My uncle who was a farmer recognized with a special dinner put on by the University of Wisconsin ag department for all his contributions to the advancement of modern agriculture in the state, when asked by me as a young man how to get a great lawn like him, told me the first thing to do was get a soil test. I at first had the county ag agent get the test done for me, which was great. But with experience and the quest for perfection looked for and found this test kit. I have been using these kits for years now and they have helped me put my lawn over the top. This year some people have complained about the poor service from Unibest. It did take over a week longer than before to get my results but was accompanied with a peruse apology for the delayed results. I probably wouldn't have needed the test done this year as because of my hard work and diligence the test came back basically saying what I had expected, everything was almost if not spot on. I have been so pleased with this test that I will continue to use it.

This soil test kit was very easy to use, and I had the results back within a week. I won't pretend to be a lawn care expert, so one of the important "features" that I wanted was a fertilizer recommendation based on my personalized results. This is where the Soil Savvy kit provides a great value. You will receive a recommendation in the form of N-P-K @ X pounds/1000 sq ft. This makes it easy to find the correct fertilizer in the store and apply it with appropriate coverage. There is one caveat: The results also tell you what your lawn's PH level is (i.e. whether the soil is acidic or basic), and that the appropriate PH is 6-7 (neutral). The N-P-K fertilizer recommendation is not going to help with your PH level. Instead, you will need to go find a bag of lime at the store and read the back. It will tell you how much lime to apply to raise your PH by X levels. Based on some research, a healthy PH level is necessary for the lawn to be able to absorb the fertilizer you're applying. Therefore, I think the kit should emphasize this fact more than it does. So, even though the Soil Savvy kit doesn't give you a lime recommendation, you'll need to find your lawn's PH in the results (mine was about 5--too low), and figure out on your own how much lime you need to raise it.There are a couple reviewers who seemed surprised that you need to mail the soil sample to the lab, as opposed to getting instant results. This was not an issue for me at all. I got my results back (they will actually e-mail them to you) in 6 days, and the envelope needed to send the sample is prepaid. It's as simple as collecting your soil, placing the container in the envelope with the completed form, and dropping it in any mailbox.I plan on using one of these kits again next year to see what kind of results I get from my efforts this year. Subjectively, my lawn greened up over the course of 3 weeks and looks quite a bit nicer than before I ordered the kit. To me, that justifies the relatively high price of the kit.

The main reason for my purchase of this product was to gain a better understanding of my lawn and to develop an efficient lawn care plan. And yes, I'm another person who was introduced to this by watching the Lawn Care Nut videos on YouTube.Anyways, since purchasing my home in 2014, I've been working to improve the lawn and landscaping since the previous owners did no favors in this category. I improved my cutting and watering schedule as well as started a weed & feed application. Although the lawn made significant improvement, I was still experiencing different conditions in the front and back. It was realized that what I was doing was definitely an improvement....but probably not the most efficient way to go about it. I finally settled on getting 2 of these kits to find out what was going on and improve my lawn care program.I used a soil probe to take multiple samples in both zones. I then mixed and sifted the soil for best composite sample. As expected, the result from the front and back yard were very different. I may not fully understand the history of the yard (since it could be a million different factors) but the results have helped me understand the nutrient levels and to develop an application plan that will lead to a healthier lawn. I have taken the result from this fall and will carry out my plan until I retest next year.In my opinion, this kit is reasonably priced, easy to use and the results come quickly. I believe you get alot of information about your soil and the recommendations are nice to have as a good starting point. Lawn Care Nut recommends this and in his video he recommends this kit because they use a "synthetic root" that tells you what nutrients are available in your soil, not just what is IN your soil. The only other thing I can say is that I'm just a consumer and don't really have any understanding as to the quality or accuracy of the testing that Unibest performs. I'm trusting their analysis and that their information helps me achieve the improvements I'm looking for. I guess time will tell.
