We have a 2000 watt generator that couldn't handle the startup surge from our Coleman Mach AC. I don't understand quite how a soft start works but it does. Installation was about 40 minutes and wasn't difficult. The generator now starts the AC with no trouble at all. If you like to camp off-grid where it gets hot and your generator can't start your AC, this is worth a try.

The insulated housing kills the CLUNK when AC kicks on. Before, my 30A shore power would trip if fridge cycled during AC startup. Now? Dual-zone AC + water heater running – zero issues! Upgraded capacitors handle desert voltage sags. Slept through 95°F nights with cool air AND quiet.
