Worked well along with my snake tongs to handle and harvest my first rattlesnake. I ended up handling a few more rattlesnakes we released back to their habitat. The snake hook helped support the snake as we manipulated it to take measurements and count subcaudal scales to determine the sex. A great experience and a very useful tool

Yes, it's a golf club shaft with a hook on the end. That said, 44" version is long enough for a 6' 3" guy to handle snakes easily. It is sturdy, useful and solid enough that now we can relocate the friendly ones easily.

This snake hook is very strong and light. I though it would be flimsy when I felt the weight but that is not the case. I t is a little long but that hasn't been a problem yet.

I purchased this for my dad for a christmas gift and he was delighted with it! The hook is actually a golf club with a nice, sturdy textured rubber grip at one end and a hook wedged and glued into the hollow shaft of the club at the other end. The hook is solid, not hollow, but if you smack the stick around you're going to dent the hollow shaft. It fits behind the seat of his truck and is great for getting snakes out of the way (or at least away from the driver's side tire of the vehicle you're trying to climb into!)He really appreciated the 44.5 inch length, which gave him 6 full feet of distance between the end of the hook and his body, which should keep him well out of striking distance of the largest rattlers. For the outdoors guy who has literally everything, this is one gift that brings a smile and is also very, very practical! (And if you have a dad who insists on shooting every snake he sees, this still helps him get it safely out of the way so he doesn't shoot out his own truck tire or pop holes in his front porch!)

Snake hook was fairly priced, for what I received. Which was nothing more than an altered average golf club with a hook super glued to the end. It'll do just find, just wish it was.nt so obvious.

The 44 1/2" snake hook is made of good quility. It has a long reach which makes it nice when reaching out to turn over brush and boards. the hook is strong enough to pin down the snake without hurting it. It is easily stored behing my seat in the Ford truck, so it is handy when going down the road and I see a snake, I can get it out quickly. I would recomend this to a person wishing to buy a snake stick.

So far, so good, except there are no real snakes to hook in the snows of New England right now! This was a Christmas gift for my son, the future herpetologist. Seems nice and sturdy and the length means he'll be far away from the critter he's trying to catch - that's a good thing!
