I am very visual, love paper records, and have always appreciated a shelf filing system instead of filing inside a drawer. Along with filing label tabs (sold separately), it is easily distinguishable where to find or return a file, either closely alphabetically, grouped color-coded, and then alphabetically, or just grouped and grouped again. This system is genius and is still often used in medical offices. Although I also maintain digital files, I still use this paper system for certain records at home.

So as far as file folder go, the fold edge is reinforced. There are fastener strips on the inside, though I'm not entirely sure how they come in handy. The only issue I have is that the label tab for these folders is along the side, so unless your filing system is designed for that, it could be a bit tricky leafing through the cabinet looking for the correct file. But I do find the folders handy for carrying around documents that you want to protect.

I am impressed with the quality of these folders. They are much sturdier than another brand I previously used. I especially like the reinforced bottom which should hold up really well even if "overstuffed" with heavier stacks of paper. I have not yet used the 2-prong fastener, but like the rest of the construction they appear to be quite sturdy and are securely/firmly attached. These are going to be really useful for keeping necessary hard-copy data for remote work organized and seperate from my personal home files.

These are typical medical office folders with the 2-hole fasteners to keep papers neat and stop them from getting lost. The actual cardstock is thinner than those used in doctor's offices and hospitals, but they are much more durable than any consumer-grade folder and are strategically laminated to prevent the wear and tear of constant handling. Made in the USA helps keep people here employed and afloat, too. If you've never had professional folders like these, you're going to be pleasantly surprised and will not want to go back to plain stationery folders.

What a great idea to have the metal paper holders hidden within this file folder—but it wouldn’t be very helpful if it wasn’t a sturdy folder to begin with! Thankfully, these folders are plenty thick and will hold multiple bunches of papers, both loose, and through the metal tabs, and still hold their shape. I k ow these are meant for office records on shelves, but I am always trying to find better ways to keep household records and receipts organized, and these folders are helping with each category, utilities, groceries, fuel, mortgage, etc. My only job is to punch the holes, and then I quickly get my piles of papers under control. The label tab is on the side, running full length, so I can write in more detail what is in each folder. These wouldn’t be for you if you want your tabs on the top.

Quality SMEAD Folders with 2-Hole Fasteners. These folders are very well made. Heavy enough for the job and reinforced at the fold, with 2-hole fasteners on top of each side to keep your papers in place and in order. Really good design, except for the width. These folders are designed to store on their side, some might say in landscape mode, with the label on the side. All good until you try to store them in older filing systems which do not fit folders over 12” wide in the landscape position. But no problem, it’s easy to trim off the excess with a paper cutter and add your own label (see pix). So I will just trim off the excess width when I use these folders in my old HON filing cabinet. Otherwise, we are well pleased with the initial results, and rate it 5*.
