I had installed this same model SCWFTCT01 "Smart Choice" water filter last year and it had performed well, so I ordered another one. A few days after its Aug. 6th installation, I noticed some water had accumulated in the produce drawer of the refrigerator. On closer examination I saw a fine line of water trickle down the back wall inside of the fridge. I further traced this up to the water filter compartment where I saw a drop of water slowly appear, drip onto the top glass shelf, and flow over to the back wall. I removed the new filter and lubricated the o-rings of the refrigerator's attachment nozzle, think this is a connection problem. This did not fix the water leak. Again removing the filter I noticed water in the crack joining the plastic twist-lock connection to the plastic cylinder housing of the filter - not properly glued together?. Being without a working filter, I purchased the name brand Frigidaire water filter from Lowe's, where the refrigerator was purchased a few years ago. It's been more than two weeks now and the Frigidaire water filter has not leaked - which shows it wasn't a connection problem. While my first Smart Choice water filter worked as it should and cost less than the name brand filter, my second Smart Choice water filter was definitely not worth the cost savings. I am fortunate that the water filter is only under pressure (and would then leak water) when using the water dispenser water or filling the ice maker. Otherwise there could have been much more water to clean up.

The Frigidaire brand filters can be expensive. I tried this and found it was identical in quality and durability. I would purchase this product again, however, for whatever reason, it hasn't come up in recent searches. This filter fit perfectly, no leaks and the water tasted just fine.

I got this water filter replacement on Amazon rather than my usual go-to site because it was a better deal. I was a little skeptical about trying out a different brand, but it turns out I like this replacement filter better than my old one! No weird odor, no chemical taste, and water quality is very clear and without bubbles. I was able to install it with ease and it fits perfectly. I’ll be ordering from here again!
