Reading the reviews, I found it's a mixed bag. I find them to be 90% effective so far. I had one coaster. However, I might have known. Looking on the back of it, there are visible signs that it's not normal. So far it's the only casualty. But I find that sometimes even with higher end discs. I'm pleased with my purchase.

I bought a pack and not 1 in 10 worked. Got the same error message, "this may be a low quality disk" which i have never seen before. Back to brands I recognize despite the higher costs.

I have used these blanks before and never had a problem. From this purchase of 10 blanks I have used 4 blanks and 3 of them failed to burn pass 50%. I don't know if it is the batch that is bad or the quality of the discs have been reduced severely. Based on this, I find it difficult to recommend these discs at this time.

Don't let the low price make you nervous, these are high quality discs!I highly recommend buying a bunch in one order. The value is unbeatable! For $50, you can get 1.5TB of storage! That is multiple hundreds cheaper than a hard drive of similar capacity! The coating on the discs feels super nice, and their very smooth all around, just like proper Blu-rays. The label can easily be written on with a marker, just be careful not to smudge them before they dry. They burn absolutely fine every time, I've never had a burn error with them. Very high quality discs!Only thing I can't attest to yet is the longevity, as I've only had my first batch around a year now.But I'd expect them to last about as long as any optical media can, about 10-15 years before the layers start to deteriorate, and you'll want to burn the data to a fresh disc if you're archiving.Absolutely perfect for media archival! I use them for archiving my Blu-ray and DVD rips for my Plex server. It keeps so much data of my far-more-precious hard drive space, both for my server, and backups. Now, the only thing to keep in mind is what program you're using to burn them.As BD-r never really took off as optical media was largely dead when it came out,not all "disc burning software" will even burn a BD-r, and that goes doubly for these BD-r DL discs.Even a lot of software that supports burning BD-r's, has no idea what a dual layer disc is, and will see it as a single layer of 50GB capacity, and thus it will fail to burn half the data. And in my experience, you won't even receive an error until it attempts to close the session and finalize. So just make sure your burning software supports dual-layer recordable Blu-rays.The technical term is "rockridge extensions", which handles the extra capacity of dual-layer discs.I accidentally made coasters out of 3 of my discs the first time I burned them. As I don't want that to happen to anyone else, I reinforce, make sure your software supports the Rockridge extensions!

Have burned 50 plus discs and not one failed burn. Very well built. Not cheap and flimsy like most value discs.Burned video in mp4 on discs with no playback issues. My Philips bluray player plays them with no problems.I would recommend these discs to everybody.Great value and great quality for discs at this price.

Compared to many other brands, this product gives one more for the money. It is true that there are other, recordable Blu-ray disks available, and they work just as well. However, most of the other brands cost a great deal more, yet they do not work any better than the disks included with this purchase. For that reason, I highly recommend Smart-Buy disks for your recording projects.

This is a great value, based on the quality (most important) and quantity. These are 50GB capacity and record at x6 (on most burners)..If you are making folder backups, this is a great size. However, if you are making a system backup, or backup of your OS drive, I would spend the extra bucks and get the quad thick 100GB blanks. They are substantially more expensive, but worth the money for continuity.

Don’t be afraid to buy the cheap stuff (at least as long as you aren’t getting those horrible LTH Blu Rays, which these are not)These are absolutely fine. I haven’t had a coaster yet, I write at 2X every time, I use a quality full-size drive from LG and make sure the drive is always stable/not somewhere where it can be jolted. I have never gotten a read error or a miscompare. And I verify twice.I took away one star for the ugly purple design that’s difficult to write on. Surely it would have been cheaper to just keep it white or something and not print anything at all? Wish they had inkjet printable discs at this price.Pro-Tip: always keep a rewritable DL disc on hand for testing purposes, that way you can examine each project for authoring issues before you commit to a real disc. I suspect that may be the cause of a lot of the issues people seem to be having with these discs. BD burning can be tricky, it isn’t always easy to create a project that’s totally compliant to the standard. Even then some set-top players are just finicky and still don’t want to play nice, regardless of which disc you use. Just how it is.
