Excellent material, the label that easily secures the base and remains stable, the size is a little small for some reason I thought they would be a little bigger, but on the page it is described correctly, in general 100% recommended and of good quality.

I originally had some Neewer ball heads, they were terrible, plastic base. The plastic cracked and they ended up in the bin. These on the other hand are awesome. All metal. Well made. The best little ball heads I've ever used. Buy them.

Turn your hot- or cold-shoe on your camera into another tripod mount point! I use it to connect a field recorder to my camcorder for audio; you could put a gopro on top of your DSLR to get video while you shoot photos; I believe it's designed to mount a monitor to the top of your digital video camera. Exceptionally well built, easy to use and adjust. Will buy again.

Muchas gracias!

I am writing this review right after installing one of these ball adjusters because I realized it works contrary to some of the other reviewers. There is a catch however, and that is after you tighten the base down the notch on the side points to whatever way it wants to point once tightened. What this means is you can't get a 90 degree pivot out of this unless it happens to point in the direction you need. You can still pivot it but only about 20 degrees or so. That was enough though for my apication. The fix may be to grind another slot with the Dremel if you are into that sort of thing. If not, you can put a 1/4 inch washer on the threads sticking out at the bottom so when you tighten the base the notch will point in a slightly different direction. You could try 2 washers but you can't put too many or the remaining threads might not be enough to adequately hold your device in position. If that's not enough then buy two of these pivots and use them in tandem. That will give you about 40 degrees without using the notch. I actually did get two just in case but only needed one to hold my 10 inch tablet.Oh and I didn't have a problem tightening it. The metal seems strong enough for the intended purpose also.So to sum up, it's versatile but partly depends on your application. If you are not sure get two of them that should cover a plethora of applications. Good luck to all of you.UPDATEI found that if you use two in tandum you can get any angle you want.

These are really well made.... at least, they FEEL that way. There is some good sturdy materials used and they've got a little heft to them to feel durable. However, after attaching a ~2ft LED light bar to them, and setting them parallel to the ground, I felt like I might be on the edge of its limitations. What's great is that is the EDGE of the limitations as you can have ALL the vertical angles that are less than 90 degrees and be quite confident (especially if you weigh the tripod down with a sandbag). Putting them at 90 degrees and putting anything with weight feels like it MIGHT tip over (no sandbag) or worse, the "ball-in-socket" design will snap or pop out. For me, this hasn't happened but I also feel this light bar is just light enough to not make that happen. I also kept it low, like the lowest the tripod would go so it was the best base set it could be at. But if you're just looking for something to allow you to angle things around that are mostly vertical, you shouldn't have an issue. Hence the 5* rating. Oh, and it's basically $10/each so that's a good bargain (unless it falls over/breaks and damages your light.....)

I got this as I needed a sturdy yet small ballhead to mount my field monitor & light panel. This works well. The grip is tight & won't slip. It's made of premium steel so will last long. I only wish it also came in a version with a wheel knob instead of the wing knob. Wheel knobs are easier to tighten, but yeah wing knobs are more grippier and can tighten more.
