Product Description

Company Logo

Over 100 Years of Quality

SKS is a quality manufacturer in the bicycle industry, we have been keeping bikes rolling for over 100 years.

Our history began in 1921 when Karl Scheffer-Klute of Sundern, Germany began manufacturing curtain rods. His company was purchased in 1932 by Wilhelm Blome, who also purchased a tire inflator company, which inspired him to begin manufacturing metal pumps.

SKS is now known as a pump and bicycle fender manufacturer, along with accessories for your bike, including bike pumps, fenders, bags, tools, digital pressure gauges, bottle cages, cage adapters, and even phone holders.

SKS items are still designed and manufactured in Sundern, Germany. We will continue to innovate and manufacture the highest quality cycling accessories for years to come.

Production Line

The Future is Orange

SKS Germany employs 400 people at our bicycle HQ in Sundern, and over 700 employees across our three combined divisions.

43% of our bicycle business is through aftermarket product sales while 32% is OEM product.

Annually, SKS Germany produces:

- 4.5 million full fenders

- 2 million clip-on fenders

- 1.2 million bicycle pumps

This totals over 18,000 fenders per day and 3,200 pumps per day!

Bluemels Update

Revamping the classics

In 2022 the SKS full fender line was renewed. The classic Chromoplastic Longboard and Commuter II full fenders were replaced with the new Bluemels and Bluemels Style fenders.

Both models are made using the same chromoplastic fender material. But, the Bluemels now come with black hardware and are available in more sizes than before.

The Bluemels Style fenders feature a square profile design, double U Stay technology, a matte black finish, and come with a sleek, flexible spoiler on the front and rear fender.

SKS Germany continues to be a leader in clip-on fender options as well.

Great quality as expected from SKS. Bought for a single-speed bike without eyelets/mounting holes. Looks good.

I’ve used this fender for three riding seasons, and it works very well. This fender is designed to keep water and dirt off the rider’s back, it IS NOT a full rear fender. It’s also designed for narrow tires, a 700 x 32 is probably about the widest that would work.It takes about 5 seconds to mount, and one second to release, and is very lightweight. Some reviews complain about a loose fit, the key is to adjust the strap so that the clip just engages, the quick release then tightens the strap further once closed. Mine never moves once installed, even on very long rides. This fender mount only fits round posts, if your bike has an aero seatpost it won’t work.Update: bought four more of these fenders in 2019 for my riding buddies, we used them on a one week bike tour, all the fenders worked great, no issues, and no black streaks down our backs, even after an afternoon riding in the pouring rain.

Works perfectly. It's so easy to put on and take off that I use it more like an umbrella for my back wheel rather than a constant feature of my bike. When I was first adjusting the angle of the blade, the screw was tight enough that I thought the blade just clicked into place, but you need to tighten the small screw that's there until the blade cannot move, otherwise it'll eventually loosen and fall down. There's an illustration explaining this in the instructions, but everything else was so self-explanatory I missed it. Note, I'm not talking about the strap around the seat post or adjusting the height of the fender. The strap is sturdy, and once you've locked it in securely there's no shifting from side to side or anything like that.

I have a 700C road bike I have converted to a townie (upright bars, more comfortable seat, rear rack). One of the challenges was finding a fender that would work on a 30 year old steel road bike frame - and fit around the rear rack too. This fit perfectly, and I drilled/bolted the back portion of the fender (using an L bracket from Walmart) to a bracket on bottom of the rack where I have a light mounted. It is solid, and close enough to the rear wheel to make a difference. It's not a full fender enclosure like a hybrid would have, but it is a great addition. Very pleased.

Good price and gets the job done. The only downside is that it slides around and is a little awkward to get it tight enough. I've been able to prevent that with rubber bands and other grippy materials around my seat post, but I feel like that could be avoided had they just made the strap grippier.Nonetheless, I used this bad boy for a long time and it kept me reasonably dry for a narrow, lightweight and detachable fender. You can make this work, but SKS could also make it work better.

Last month I bought a single-speed bicycle, and have been out riding every day. I feel so much better! There is a stretch of road on one of my routes next to a cement plant, and one day after a rain I went through a few puddles. When I got home I found that I had collected a two inch strip of dried cement that started on my saddle bag and continued up the back of my shorts, shirt, and helmet. Actually, my helmet was more splattered than striped. It was a real pain washing all that stuff off! Of course it got all over the wheels and bottom bracket as well.I spent some time on the web looking for solutions to the back stripe problem, and I ran across the SKS S-Blade. It really works well and looks terrific too! My bike is tall and I was worried I wouldn't be able to get the fender close enough to my tire to be effective. I was quite surprised to find that I could attach the S-Blade quick release to the seat tube directly under the seat post clamp. It may be unusual to have a couple of inches of seat tube exposed below the clamp, but the S-Blade fits perfectly under my saddle bag and hovers within an inch or two of the rear tire. I couldn't be happier!I take my bike with me in the car, but I need to take the front wheel and saddle off in order to do this. Since my S-blade is attached to the seat tube (and not the seat post) I can just leave the S-Blade on the bike. The SKS S-Blade does not keep all the rain, mud, and cement off my bike (or feet), but it does a splendid job of protecting my saddle bag and my rear!

First, I love it and I'm very happy with it. But wow, I reaaally wasn't so sure about this thing out of the box.Right out of the box, it seemed flimsy and I wasn't sure about the way it mounts. I had buyer's regret before even putting it on my bike, so I let it sit in the box for two days before deciding I might as well finally try it.And that's when I realised all my whinging was for nothing - this thing is GREAT.It is made of thin plastic, the outer part is very thin and even flexible. This has nothing to do with performance, though - unless you're going to be putting weight on it for some reason, there is no way the thinness of it is a problem. It actually makes it much lighterweight, which is something many of us want. The mount is extremely easy to put on... and extremely easy to take off so I take it off when I leave my bike unattended in most public places. I use the sleeve of an old, trashed, long umbrella to keep it in my bag without making a mess, and it works fantastically!Definitely mount it TIGHTLY to avoid it shifting while riding. That's easy to do and the mount part is strong enough that I don't worry about it breaking from overtightening it.It also just looks great. I have a pretty minimal bike and this fits in just fine, because it's thin and barely noticeable. And obviously, it functions - no stripe of mud up my bag and back after my commute. That's pretty important.

I've used several kinds of fenders on my bikes. If you want the best fender coverage to prevent you, your bike, and your stuff getting wet then you need to get larger, wrap-around fenders like the SKS Longboards (great fender). On the other hand, if you have a bike that you'd like to keep light or like the look of without fenders and don't want to constantly be removing wheels and bolts and such, then this is the fender for you. While it doesnt provide half as much coverage, it still keeps the important parts dry (back, butt). You may get a little spray on your feet or ankles but its nothing too bad. The real draw of this fender is that it goes on and comes off in mere seconds, leaving your bike looking slim and fast. I use this fender on my Surly Steamroller for commuting to work. If the rain stops, I can just throw it in my backpack. Just make sure to take off the fender when you park your bike so no one can snatch it!
